Obviously, I should have posted something BEFORE the fact, but did anyone else in KWF take part in this Vienna friendly yesterday? There were teams of three from Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland. It was good fun.

:) Tell me hoe it was??!! Were there a lot of people? It´s sad that our club didn´t decide to go. They planed to go, but then they have canceled the sleeping in dojo, so it would be to expensive, so they didn´t go. But last year they were in Wien and they told me it was fun. Were there any girls??

Hi All!
The Donau (Danube) Cup 2004 was held on April 4th at the Vienna Budo Center. 30 teams from Austria (Friesach, Graz, Linz, Vienna), Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland joined battle, resulting in some spectacular matches. The Hungarian competitors showed their top European class and took first and third place, while a Vienna team (WKV 1) reached second. The program also featured a children's competition and a charming "mini-kids" event. On the previous afternoon a training session was held under the supervision of Kamemoto Ryutaro Sensei, followed by a welcome party in the Budo Center cafe.
The cup was great fun and a valuable experience and it would have been nice to spend a little more time hanging out with the other Central European kendoka. I hope to see Serenity and Mr.Tvola next year, and I'm almost sure I'll see Moetl in September!
The pix below were taken by my girlfriend during our team's (Kenshikan 3) shiai against a Hungarian team (Fönix 1) in the second round (we lost) and the awards ceremony at the end. All the spectators (including photographer) were on one side of the hall, hence the empty seats in the background.
I'm sure there will be some better pix up later on one of the Vienna clubs' websites (I'll post the link when it comes in). But until then...
edit: oops, not a valid image. i'll mess around with this tomorrow.
