Kendo in Saitama and Nagoya

I am an 18 year old university student. I will be visiting Japan for about 7 weeks this summer. I will be staying with a Japanese family in Nagoya and a Japanese family in Saitama. I would like to train in kendo dojos while I am staying in Japan. I will stay in Saitama for about 1 week, from May 29 until June 5, after which time I will travel to Nagoya to stay for 6 weeks, from June 5 until July 22. I would like information about Kendo in and around these two areas, including the Tokyo area. I can speak Japanese at an intermediate level. Any information about kendo dojos or kendo events in these two areas will be appreciated. I am only a beginner, but I own all of my own equipment and am serious about learning kendo.

I am also 18 and went to Japan on a three week home stay last year in Saitama prefecture. I practised at Yagisaki kasukabe dojyo that was recommended by my host family's friend.

Here is a list of all the Dojyo listed on the skijournal web site in Japanese and you can also search for other dojyo in Japan by key word, prefecture or type.

Yagisaki is No. 90 and on the right it shows wether Children and or Normal people can join and if they Do Iaido or not. You can also click the name to see there address and phone numbers.

But what I would recommend is to tell the people you are staying with you would like to do kendo and they might be able to find a good Dojyo near there house you could go to. I took my own Shinai, Hakama and Keikogi but left my Bougu because it was a little too hard to take. I am sure any Dojyo would look forwards to having you practice there and lend you any equipment you do not have :wink:. P.S you might have to introduce your self in front of the class :silly:
