No!
You will only develop bad habits if you aren't under the supervision of an experienced kendoka.

by the way...why do people want to learn kendo on their own....it's much more fun in a dojo.....isn't it?

I've got a ton of bad habits despite constant supervision and correction :)

well cause not everybody nas a nearby dojo in the hood, hasnot an avaliable spot in ther schedule or realy dont want to be in a dojo, i too once tried to learn on my own, but then joined a dojo and i dont see much problem, better still i had much of the space sensibility pretty much worked out by then......
for example, i spend like 6 months finding a nearby dojo...........and the more "nearby dojo" for me is an hour and a half taking 2 buses and a metro ride..........so go figure

I think I asked this same question a year ago.. or about online teachings... I sorta figured when thinking about it..
Is what your mastering what the master has mastered or are you mastering just nothing you think is something of a master?
lol basically.. think... can you learn how to do special moves a character does in a video game without looking for the buttons to push in a manual or online?.. Not really, and if you do, you're pretty much lucky. I'd probobly reccomend waiting till you can find somebody at a decent rank who can teach you, or just attend a dojo, and if you're having dojo-finding conflicts, theres always ways to fix that. Ask around, don't just check online, or wait. I waited a few months, I left this forum.. then I came back, and now a friend I had met tells me theres a dojo close by here now where I live.
