If you are a fan of the low quality video found on the site, you may get a higher quality one here.

is another link, you will have to scroll down a bit.

Ahh well I suppose it's better than nothing.

I sent an email the national geographic video department a few months ago. this was their reply.
Thank you for contacting National Geographic Video customer service. At this point we have no information on this becoming available on video. We are currently looking into when and if this will become available. I would be more than happy to keep your name and email address on file to forward any information as soon as we have it.
I think if maybe NHK or national get enough emails they might considering producing it on dvd. I asked national about if they do special orders, but no luck at all.
here is nationals email NGVIDEO@Cust-Serv.com

Masahiro: this video was posted but bad streaming online quality. The links I provide are actual videos taped from the National Geographic TV special.

National Geographic and NHK will not sell these tapes to private individuals.

I have a nice quality video of it :) (Only English subtitles, and original English narrator) when I find a way to get it onto DVD or VCD I will let you all know; the problem is keeping the quality of it after it has been converted and recompressed into either format.
Damn shame they will not sell it to us, but we can keep pestering them or try setting up a fake TV channel so they will sell it to us ;) ;) nudge nudge

Maybe DIVX conversion would suit nice (for internet). That maintains a fair amount of quality but it might be a little large though. There could be perhaps two different kinds of conversions (one high quality, one low) DVD would be great and I will be willing to pay for that version :)
I can host it if you wish, I have a t3 connection :D

ummm is this video not the 84Mb download you can get from Kendoshop.com. Its in their Community section under Mania room. the file is called [Mov] Kendo\'s Gruelling Challenge last time I checked.

No this is not the "crappy" video you can download. It is, if you read Lucian's post
Only English subtitles, and original English narrator
the internet version layered two languages of translation over each other so it is impossible to read the subtitles, and the video is of grainy quality.

I have seen this tape not sure where it is now though. I had a reasonable copy of it also but I think some one may have pinched it. not in NTSC format
