Hi Guys,
Any one interested in the recent ACT open final. The video is encoded with DIVX so make sure you have the codec installed or you have a player that can decode it. Its about 25MB.

Tell me what you think of my editing.
BTW, I have 3 hours of this stuff.
Cheers,

I forgot to mention that the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) is a territory / state in Australia.

The final was between Kirby Smith ("deathbykendo" on this forum) and Takashi (can't remember last name).
The competition was hosted by the Australian National University Kendo Club (cheers fellas!)

There is no way that i can keep all the movies hosted on my personal web space (30MB max). I will have to rotate the videos if i can't get more web space.
Any one willing to let me host more videos on a server somewhere?
Cheers,
Ben

Hi guys I am Jason, a memeber of UNSW Kendo club, and hi Andrew, saw you in training on Mon but haven't met you yet, will say hi to you next time you are around. =)
Just wondering if it is possible for Ben to burn the comp's video into a CD and give it to the UNSW kendo club so we could circulate there. Probably one of the UNSW member can get it when they are at the Sat training?
cheers
P.S. About hosting the files, maybe you could sign up for one of Googles' new Gmail which has 1G space, upload the files and just give people the password to login? but the only problem is it is still in beta phase, and we can only join when someone invites us to join. These invitations can be bought from ebay for about AUD$3 .

Hi Jason,
I don't have all my footage edited at the moment so burning the unedited footage on CD is not possible. Too many CDs would be need for 3 hours of unedited footage. My plan is to produce a DVD (that you can play on your TV through a normal DVD player) of the event.
I'm currently editing the Kyu team finals. Congratulations to the UNSW boys for winning. Once I'm done, I'll drop by for a training session and show any one that is interested all the footage I have on my laptop at the end of the session. I've got a good chunk of footage with UNSW members and the Semi of Sano sensei vs. Kirby Smith.
Cheers,
Ben

The right hand/wrist/arm position is bad in this men uchi. It's angled downward a bit. The kote cuff magnifies the appearance of the problem.
UNSW kyu team is weak.

I just might take you up on that offer. How do I transfer the files to your server (ftp)? Do you need a home page that acts as a front for all the ZIP files or do you just want the AVI's?
Send me a private message and we can flesh out the details.

It's not perfect men cut, I'm 3rd kyu grade, I admit it's very very very far from perfect. But yes, the target was low, that's all I can say.
Hey that was a nice photo by Andoru thanks a lot ! Hey, that photo was nicely timed, did you know I was going to do a men cut ?? Hey, what if you did do or de kote instead of clicking camera, you can try that on next training :P

hi,
i have a question concerning the video: why doesn't get mr. itakura a point for his men (time: 00:28)?
watch the referee in the rear at 1:55, shortly before the second point is scored: he looks at his flag (to see if it's still attached >>). one can question, if he was concentrated enough to be able to see the 2nd point correctly...?
this are just observations, i do not intend to insult anyone :)

He's too close.
As for the second point, I bet the flag goes of as he lifts it...not an issue

If you slow the footage down you will see Mr Smith move his head right and Mr Itakura cut lands on the shuolder.

Like I said, I shouldn't have said that the photo is stating for a fact that the team is strong. The team IS strong in MY opinion - don't need any photos to show that. Any errors in regards to interpretation are solely attributable to me and to me only.
Let's not get anal over 1 photo folks.

More movies for everyone from the 2004 ACT comp. Andoru can you tell me who the UNSW guy is vs Ben Ng.
I'm editing the Kyu teams final (UNSW vs MooDo Kwan), we'll post here soon to see how the other KW members rate the UNSW kyu team.
Just some additional information about the matches.
IMHO the best match of the comp was the semi Smith v Sano.
IMHO the best point was Sano sensei's point against Kirby Smith in the semi
Pickering is a Nito player. Baker had home court advantage.
Kim v Smith (is not the same Smith in the Open Dan Final and semi). Was Kim's second point v Smith really a point?
World fastest Kote and Kote again in Ng vs UNSW John Doe (sorry Ben, but its funny :)

Hey guys give credit to Andoru, he takes nice photos for us, if we keep complaining and carrying on about some photo, we might have nothing to look at anymore. Besides...interpret the photos to yourselves...there are thousands of ways to interpret that photo it will not fit in this thread. That's a nice photo, thanks Andoru..and that's it.

Just to let everyone know, now that this thread has popped up to the top again.
