Considering to two people who got this whole forum and magazine thing up and running are Kiwis, it would be nice to have New Zealand listed in the poll as well! Not just under 'other'...:D

Bugger off - Everyone knows Australia is the mainland of New Zealand. We shoud have annexed your couple of islands decades ago. Australia produces all the best actors - like Russel Crowe.
The best horses - Pharlap
the list could go on . . . ;)

To all Aussies:

Remember that song Andrew Denton and crew sang for the Commonwealth Games ages ago...

Its not fair but I don't care
As long as we beat New Zealand.

:)

Awww....but the kiwis are cool but. They gave us the All Blacks (Yay!), Footrot Flats (Hooray for the Dog!) and Kiwi Fruits. And lets not forget that great actor Temuera Morrison from Once Were Warriors.

:D I forsee that only Aussies and Kiwis will get this post...

Besides that inner Commonwealth discusion (you're right Meng, I think that only aussies, kiwis and related ones can undestand something), there's one country that, I think, deserves to be in the listing...

...Japan.

There, that's better, a bit of re-arranging and things are where they should be....

Also, if you go to 'view statistics' off the welcome screen and choose 'countries' from the very bottom menu bar, you can get a rough idea of the breakdown of visitors to the site in general.

Well, there just seem to be blokes that love to dress in womens' clothing and make idiots of themselves. As for Dame Edna, I have no explanation.

Hi!

You know James, that's a political declaration, and there're many people that will argue that this region is not a Country. More or less 50% of the people living in the Spanish Basque Country, 85% of the people in French Basque Country, something like 70% of the guys in Navarre and so on.

I don't know if it's an oppening for discussion. :( Sorry about bringing this subject on the forum, I hope that we keep it there.

On the Kendo matter, I'm not from the Basque Country, but I know a lot of people who're from there, both from Bilbao (I belive that the higest dan in Spain is there) and from Vitoria (I asisted to a seminar + my 1st tournament the last month, Kendo is sponsorized by the municipality!!! ). Nice people, I don't think that any of them is on this forum.

... but I know a lot of people who're from there,

Me to, like my mother...and half my family...

Why thankyou...

Question: How does it work?

According to the site statistics:

1) Half of the visits came from the US; and
2) 211 from my tiny country, Hong Kong; BUT ZERO FROM JAPAN. (Where do Hyaku and Confound come from???)

Is it really true that all polls and statistics are lies? :normal:

Yes all statistics are 'lies', unless they confirm the point you are arguing, in which case they are 'indisputable facts'.

Hi Meng

To explain this it requires a little technical explanation.

In Internet you will fin two different sources of statistics for a web site like this forum.

The first one is the log files of the server, which delivers bad quality statistics, with very small content (more than 50% error on viewed pages, unable to track visits or visitors, etc).

The second one is the transparent gif technique, wich allows to track lot's of info with an acouracy over 98%.

For the country of origin both sources need to relay on the only tool that they have to try to locate the visits, the IP adress. Due to the Internet structure is common that your place in the world don't match the country of your IP connection.

Other problem is DNS resolution (the way that the stats tools ask to your ISP "where are you from", or better "who are you"), in many cases those resolutions provide a null or unknow result, that it's added to some other, producing a bigger mess.

Hope this explanation would help.

Rei.

The country selection part of the statistics page runs off the settings in your browser/windows, hence it is nowhere near 100% accurate. Support for Japanese is not working, so you don't see any people from Japan, either.

I believe Bane is working on a fix for that feature, but it won't be out until vBulletin 3 comes out sometime by the end of the year(?)

Hamish mate,

are you going to let that Kiwi-fruit quip go unanswered?!

By the way everybody, of all the countries mentioned here, and even those that are not, how many have compiled records or have an official federation history available?

I thought it was blame Saddam Hussein week. Lay off the Canadians for once. Go beat up on some crazy third world dicactor for a week. do something useful. recycle! Help the homeless. give blood. No more Canadian abuse... (unless it comes from my fellow Canadians of course.)

Yes, Cybersushi, i'm sure most can guess without looking. I may have been gone a week or so, but my insult filter picked that one up in a flash.

Anyway,
To keep on topic for this tread (how strage, I know people don't do that anymore, call me old-fashioned...): I' m from France, but live in the UK. There doesn't seem to be too many French people around, I suppose they keep to the French speaking sites (how quaint...) . thier loss, really, they miss some good stuff on thsi forum, and some good laughs (keep the ood work Confund-sorry, Bob-, you always make my day.).
