wouldnt it be easier to put in a filter? either not let users post profane words or replace them with asterisks? and if anyone tries to trick it by using s o m e t h i n g like this, so the filter doesnt pick it up, then u can ban em..

wouldnt it be easier to put in a filter?no, please no filter! i find those filters in tv, music etc. rather disturbing and really don't see the benefit of putting a beep over a swear word. it does not educate anyone and it does not prohibit the use of swear words. rather, it is like an attempt to conceal society's inability to handle unwanted behaviour.
those people who only come here to insult others can hopefully be sorted out (and get banned). to all others: the ignore option works wonders. we shouldn't let ourselves down and flood this forum with torrents of hatred.
thank you

only recently was I alerted to the Ignore function of this Forum.
Since then I have used it a few times and it has really helped clean things up on my computer.
Also if there are things about the way i post, then I invite any who wish to place my name on their ignore list. This is because no one enjoys seeing such hatefilled words that some topics get driven down into.
However, I would like to see a notice talking a bit about the Ignore function. I only learned about this when others started to talk about placeing my name of their lists...And I think we could have saved a lot of time had the Ignore function been more widely used understood and used.
From now on I will place on ignore any poster that even slightly comes close to a use of Profanity that is unsuited for children to read.....and this will serve to protect any person who will use my computer when Im not around.

I question if we who are adults should be shareing in the open room, the use of words that we should not be teachings to children.
I did not post about the words you children are teaching us....thats another matter...LOL

I cant sit around getting all worried about this of that poster geting upset at something he saw on-line...
Sometimes Im in a good mood,,somethings Im in a bad mood,,,But who cares?...Your life goes on without me right?
The deal is that even if Im in a bad mood I cant allow it to become a reason for useing "Foul Language"....
far, far too many people get so caught up in their feelings that they find themselves posting things that later they are shocked at....I know one poster that was unaware that they had used a very bad "f-word" in a post to me untill I posted it back later for them to see...
clearly people are moody...

People's feelings are none of my concern.
You should always care how a person feels. It is wrong not to. A person is a living and sensitive being regardless whether or not you can see and talk to them. There is a real person behind the pixels and the words those pixels create on your screen. You should remember that. A living, sentient being creates the words that show up on your screen. Believe it or not, all people have feelings regardless of whether or not they are in person or on a forum. Though to a lesser extent in most cases, you can still anger, sadden, make happy, cheer up, and etc, a person online, just as you can in person.
To not feel concern about other people's feelings, is wrong. How can anyone not feel for others or care? Even people you do not know are important. I don't care who a person is... their feelings are important regardless.

Kaoru, nice and kind words but they are wasted like casting pearls before swine.
The turd does not care about how anyone feels, nor does he respect anyone. Read his posts and you will see that he is just intersted in reinforcing his weak beliefs because he is insecure. Read his posts and you will see he likes to cause stir and anger. Read his posts and you will see he is a troll because he never debates against superior arguments or intellect but rather introduces an irrelevant point.
Don't stress yourself over what he says, DaQoturd has verbal diahoria because he keeps talking crap.

If you don't care about what others think, why waste your time (and ours) posting on a forum, the entire purpose of which is to share our thoughts and feelings with others.
Think hard, moron....you'll get it eventually.

....perhaps you have misunderstood my post?
I believe I intended to write that Im not at all concerned with other people's moods.
The emotional state of each poster on-line is of no concern to me, I dont try to concern myself too much with that type of stuff....it's none of my business, and it would be pointless due to the fact that "people are moody" and that we tend to go to extremes...
However thats not the same as not careing about what others "think"...I have started a few topics, and will start more next week because I do indeed value the rational thoughts of some who post answers to my questions.
But when some posters prove to me that they are unable to post to me without calling me names, then I tend to value their words less and less, ,,,until the time comes when I "expect" them to disregard the topic at hand and just post some drivel about me personally...
I tend to disregard their posts on sight from then on....
Cypher

Well, let me put this simply. I became irritated when confronted with your constant self-satisfaction upon reading the forums. Therefore I responded to your posts (or more accurately, your attitude) in a manner I considered to be fit. Therefore, the value you perceive in the content of my posts is, quite frankly, as irrelevant as the verbose ramblings you so enthusiastically post. Why respond to my post if said post held no inherent value? If you were not so full of your own superiority (as you see it) I would not have had to bother responding to you. I too am Christian, have been for a long time. Namely, since I was born. However, I feel no need to constantly quote scripture in a facetious manner to those with little interest in them, and all the while dismissing other religions as unimportant. That is, sir, in my humble opinion, sufficient grounds for the 'name calling' you so eloquently describe. And, since you have impressed upon me the importance of 'sticking to the topic'....'moron' is hardly profane.

....
Perhaps thats the biggest difference in the way i post, and the way you do...For I try not to allow the hatefull words spoken by others against me personally to affect me personally...I try never to allow the rude words of others to make me rude in return.
The Words of Christ are clear on this idea in MATTHEW 5:39 where He states that we should not answer in kind. I believe that it is important for the Christian to present himself to the world as someone who is not able to be goaded so easly into responding in kind to an attack....
When we stoop down to the lower level of name calling we only point out the lack of a higher calling in our posts.
You can call yourself a "Christian from birth" all you want, but it only when I see your reactions to Life's irritations that I get to see just how deeply your fath goes...
