Im in kind of a tight spot here.

Sensei thinks am ready for my own bogu. He wants me to buy a(new) set that has been hanging on the wall since I started 4 months ago. He wants a pretty good price for it, $395 US, but I have some issues.

The tare and kote are perfect. The tare covers most of my thighs without getting in the way at all, and the kote are nice and tight without being restrictive.

The men and do are another story. The top of the men fits too tightly on the top of my head, and the sides fit too loose. My face doesn't fit quite right in the chin and forehead rests. The do is probably a little small for me, AND I think it is made out of plastic.

Now that being said, I have been wearing the dojo bogu for 2 1/2 months. Supposedly, it is too small for me, or it doesn't fit right, but it feels fine. That could be just because I have been wearing it so long, so the wrong way feels right. It's possible that all my fears are completely misplaced, seeing as how sensei probably knows much more about bogu than I do.

I am going to do some research tonight, but let me know what you think. My girlfriend gave me $300 as a 4 year anniversary present SPECIFICALLY to get bogu with, so I need to get the best that I can afford(I have about $250 saved up already in addition to the $300 she gave me).

Thanks guys

it's quite simple from my point of view.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

You're going to wear it for a long time, and you're going to shell out quite a buck on it, so you'd better like it!

PS. Most "Do" on bogus which price is lower than a thousand dollars will most probably be synthetic. Bamboo is very expensive and not really needed.

I agree with Alex. You're probably safe sitting with the club bogu for now, so take your time choosing what you want to buy. Bogu is an investment in your future training, and in your safety, do not buy something that feels wrong, or that doesn't meet your expectations. You will only end up buying another set of bogu later, or having a nasty injury, and no one wants that.

If you're worried about offending your sensei, negotiate with him. explain your concerns...

o bother, this sounds like an Ann Landers column. You get the jist. Someone, shoot me, I'm going soft.
