Ok. I've liked Kendo for two years now but have never been able to do this art/sport. I have some questions.

1. I asked my dad today if I could sign up for it, he asked me where it was, and I told him about 45 minutes away from here. Because he would be driving for 3 hours a week for it. Now, how can I start up a club here where I live or find somebody in my area that's a sensai and know's the sport?

2. How much does it ALL cost to start up for everything? Equipment and everything else?

3. Is there any Dojos near Lemoore California? I've looked, but sometimes Dojos are unlisted.

Thank you for your answers. (To those who answer)

Well,

If you want to know how much it would all cost, look around in the Bogu forum.

And if your asking whereabouts a Dojo is, you should post in the Dojo forum, cause you'll get a bigger response.

Get in touch with the dojo that is 45 minutes away from you, they may have an off-shoot or some members in your area who could give you a lift.

The answer to your cost question is in the FAQ section:

unless they make you buy the uniform straight away, then the only thing you'll require is a shinai. that shouldn't be too expensive? US$25-30 maybe? after that, comes the uniform, which you can get at many online shops. i'd imagine a good set would cost somewhere around $120-$150? don't think about armor yet, because it would be a fair bit down the track after you start. but anyway, prices vary quite a bit on uniforms and bogu, so be sure to check out the Bogu section of the forum, and shop around.

have fun and enjoy the training! :)

The Central California Kendo Federation should have schools close to your area.
