I haven't really read too many Samurai Manga, I'm more of a sci-fi guy. The closest thing to one would be Blade of the Immortal, which is a bit sci-fi. I was wondering if vagabond was interesting. From what i've read it follows musashi (not sure if it does so accurately) from birth to adulthood. I don't mind accuracy, as I haven't done any real musashi research.

Vagabond is based on Yoshikawa's Musashi story.
But there are many many fiction added to this manga from ones from original Musashi by Yoshikawa. (Yoshikawa's Musashi is said to be 85% fiction too)
So basically Vagabond is nothing but fiction of fictional story.

some of this manga was gifted to me by my former sensei yoshida-san. the last number he gave me was (japanese edition) number 17. and that was more than a year ago. so i think they have released at least 6 tankoubon more? im not sure.
he told me its a big hit in japan. and even though the story varies a lot from the novel done by yoshikawa, it's still entertaining and well drawn. im not much of a manga fan at all myself, but this is one of the few i own.

I was collecting these in Japan up to when I left (about a 16 months ago), and got up to 16. I heard about 17 being released sometime last December, but never heard anything else about it. If they're up to 20 now, I'd better start saving up to get the rest ^_^

The autor has a webpage where he said that number 20 would be the last one he would make for a certain while,
an other very good manga by Inoue is Real, its only 3 volume so far and I think he makes one or two volumes per year. Its the story of people playing weelchair basketball. I read it during my stay in japan and I have to say its very touching.
