i dont know if this post is oin the right place, but its the only place i could think it to go in

you might think this is a stupid question, but how do people put those funky pictures next to their posts?

i wuz just wondering, cuz i want one

These small images are called Avatars. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. There are two kinds of avatars: those provided by the administrator and those that you upload yourself.

If the administrator has provided a set of avatars, and avatars are enabled, you may select an avatar that best describes your personality.

The administrator may also have enabled custom avatars, which allows you to upload an avatar image from your computer.

If you have more than 10 posts, you may also specify your own custom avatar.

Before you load an avatar or a small image, right click on your subject then go to properties and check for the actual size of the pix you want to load. The acceptable size for an avatar is 50x50 pixels, you cannot go beyond this size. Use this guide to avoid frustration. You can type "avatars" at google search engine to search for avatars suited for your taste or personality, there are lots of them in the internet.

BTW, what kind of pictures are you trying to load?

it was a fish that my mate sent me to use on another message board-it worked there, but i guess they must have a different capacity thing or summit

Hey punk,

If you've got photoshop on your machine you can turn anything into the right size for an avatar. Mine is some shuji I did with a texta years ago, scanned into my Mac, then I just squished it down until it was less than 50x50.

arg i hate beeing compuitor illiterate...

ok, so i cant find the fotoshop thingimy, but i have found some ok pics that would fit-can i be really dumb and ask how i make them into the right sort of file-the compuitor only wan to sae them as gif or bitmap and it wont let me use them

What sort of files are they?

If you need to save them as gifs or whatever, you WILL need a program like Photoshop to do the converting...

If you dont have one, attach the file you want to use to a post, and I'm sure someone else can convert it for you

hmmmn now theres an idea

or i might wait till christmas, my home compuitor has got a scanner so it should have a photoshop type thing

i'll try that and if it dont work i'll pass it on to someone else
