When you watch a more experienced Kendo club member or your sensei, what do you watch for, and why? What do you hope to learn from watching that particular thing?

P.S.

"Everything" is not an answer. I would love to be able to watch everything and learn multiple things all at once, but if I try, I get super mega confused. Most people tell me the same thing.

footwork and posture.
and how he/she creates an opening.

Also how the person in question moves. one of the best i've seen more or less displaced himself around and seemed more to float then suriashi around.
i'm constantly trying to move my hara and not my upper body while doing a men cut, but it's not always easy :) and for me it helps watching the posture and footwork of people who does this :)

Everything :p

Just kidding. Anyway, I found out that in my stage it's really interesting to watch where the shinai has hit and how did he manage to reach that point. I also like to watch, after, how the offensive motion of the feet was made.

Rhythm, balance, maturity, superior swordsmanship, poetry in motion, decisive attacks(no hesitations), fast reflex, and power overwhelming under control;all these while I watch in envy with my mouth open.

Things that I wish to have beyond my mediocre kendo. In short almost everything..........:)

I want to become a super kendoka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(In my dreams, man, only in my dreams, sigh)

I watch footwork, technique and speed. Sometimes I like to analyze their kiai just for fun.
