Hi everybody,
Might be a dumb question, but is there any maintenance required
for a bokken?

Obviously it doesn't get abused the way a shinai would, just wondering if it needs to be oiled/waxed to keep the wood from drying out and looking good.

Thanks.

Hmnnn, I actually sand down the hilt so I can get a better grip. Though this may look really bad as the hilt will be lighter than the rest of the bokken.

Then, again my bokken is white oak so it doesn't really show.

Well what do you do if you use your bokuto alot, say if you practice Itouryu? What maintenance will it need then?

I'm guessing here, but I would have thought that apart from sanding down splinters etc, you'd want to look after it in the same way as any piece of wood - clean and polish with a nice errr.. wood polish

Sorry... I kinda skipped anything that had to do with shop class... sounds like reasonable advice though... : )
