Hello,

I would suggest "Kendo the definitive guide", by Hiroshi Ozawa. Great book all of the waza's, basics, kata, even a bit of Reigi. You can pick it up at really any book store near you.

Hey there,

Your web grammar and the way you arrange your sentences remind me of someone else.

Is Rich DeLuca a friend of yours? :D

Anyway, Kendo is not a solo martial art, so I don't believe anyone can learn it just from a book. If there's a large Asian community nearby, why not find out where they meet for social events, or where their kids studies --sometimes they can be quite hidden.

Welcome to the Kendo World.
(I like this phrase a lot.)

Wutian,

I suggest you get in touch with your National Association, I am sure they would be able to advise you of any clubs in your area.

Hope this helps!

hi wutian,
kendo needs more than 1 person, so in my humble
opinion, books, although great for inspiration and reference,
are not able to teach kendo.
i dont think that much of the web and kendo yet.
kendoworld.com is an extremely rare are great site.
i live in los angeles with one of the largest if not the largest
asian*population outside of asia. out of the 20 or 30 dojos
in the los angeles area only 2 or 3 of them have sites.
when i started kendo, i found my local dojo by going to
the local martial arts supply stores and checking out
their bulleten boards, look for a flyer or card.
calling local buddest temples may yield some results.
japanese communities also tend to have publications such as
newspapers, telephone directories, ad-mags,etc.
some kendo clubs may advertise.
also check the korean community as well. in the korean language
kendo is spelled "kumdo"
do a word search on "all united states kendo federation"
that site will list all the kendo dojos in the u.s.
if all else fails:
why don't YOU advertise.
make a flyer/ad to all kenshi in the area that might be interested
in forming a club. maybe you'll get the attention of the kenshi in the
area and maybe even a sensei or two. "if you build it, they will come"
good luck.

Hahahaa...yar Khung was my Sempai when I was training in Flinders Uni club in South Australia(incidently my first club got a mention in KW #4...hahaha, Go Flinders!!).

I talked to his sensei some time ago and apparently he hasn't got around to grading yet...

Still...I hear he is pretty strong. I've been trying to contact him myself...
