View Full Version : A couple kendo antiques for collectors

I was surfing around on Ebay and found a couple interesting antiques there, the first one is an old (1900-1920) do, made from bamboo, very beautiful item.

The second item is something I wonder about, it's a men made of leather in London, UK in 1932, and I was wondering if they actually did make them from leather back in the days? Or is this some rare British version different from Japanese men from the same time period?

Sorry if this thread doesn't belong in this category but I figured since these items are part of kendo history, it'd be the best place to put the thread here, to discuss these old items. :)

I have 3 or 4 of those and one with straight bamboo that is even older. Regarding the helmet, it does not look like anything used for kendo. Looks like something that was used for training with sabers or such before the sport days.

It's "Helmut" which gave it away! :D

What's with the mune on that doh by the way? Were they made flexible in those days?
