When I live in Oregon some kid asked me if I wanted to join Amgard. From the way he described it to me I'll translate it:
Its where a bunch of nerds get together with pads and pvc pipe and swordfight and have fake wars, basically a bunch of inexperienced people waving around stuff, oh theres also archers, and wizards. You say some really long and phony phrase to cast spells and crap. Then, now that I'm living in washington, one of my friends actually joined... Oh the embarrasment... He wants me to come with him on fridays or saturdays or something, maybe I should show up with my shinai lol and KILL EVERYBODY:devious: !!! Joking aside, what do you guys think of this Nerds with sticks craze?

There is actually a group of people that do that kind of stuff outside of one of the dorms on campus. I think it looks silly, but like Khabbi said, "Whatever floats your boat." Although I wouldn't be caught dead doing that kind of stuff, I am not going to let my personal feelings get in the way of their enjoyment. Besides, you could convince your friend to join Kendo and hopefully get an edge on the swordfighting stuff :)

The more I read about stuff like this the more I want to open up a little hobby shop somewhere called " All Things Nerd " and start a monthly newsletter.

A good kendoka would kick the first guys ass totally, but when the was looking around for someone else to fight, he or she would get clonked on the back of the head by a lightening bolt, then some guy dressed as an elf would turn you into stone with a wand.
To be fair though, I'm probably just as big a geek as people who dress as wizards and hit each other with foam and pvc tubes.

Lol, My friend is right next to me, insisting... ITS FUN!!! Kendo is more fun. But yes, mwahahaha, it could be good practice, on weaklings. I say we all start a kendo kingdom and dominate!!! Joking aside, yes you can kill someone from behind, it is a "Warzone."

It sounds like its one the branch from that shinai.org group. Theyre the people who meet in empty parking lots and start wacking each other.

Oh, good lord... you should see them go at it every Sunday in one of Montreal's big parks. Right next to where hippies smoke pot and wail on their tam-tams.
I can't stand the sword people.
