Help, I am trying to get more info on a Kendo master named "Ishikawa". He founded the World Kendo Federation in approx 1930's. This is what I know:
Ishikawa was from Okinawa and traveled to Kyoto, Japan to study Kendo. There he trained to a high rank (8 - 10th Dan). He moved to British Columbia, Canada and was later imprisoned in an internment camp in WW2. While in the internment camp he taught Kendo. One of his top students was Shintani, Masaru (yes he was a Karate-Ka) known for his Wado-ryu System of karate..What is little known is that he also taught Kendo. Shintani died in @ 2000. I am attemptng to trace the lineage of Ishikawa but have hit dead ends..I do know Ishikawa had a son that was a Doctor and Surgeon (in Canada??), and Ishikawa moved to Hamilton, Ontario where he died in a nursing home. (?)
If anyone is familiar with Ishikawa or the World Kendo Federation or was a Kendo student of Shintani or others connected to Ishikawa, and knows some lineage or tidbits that may help...please, please respond. Sorry I do not know Ishikawa's first name....Thanks!

I am very good friends with the current president of the Shintani Federation, Denis Labbe Sensei. He was also a close friend of Shintani Sensei. I am sure he may be able to help you in developing some contacts.

Email me at navyguy141@hotmail.com and I can provide some additional contact information if desired. Or you can likely find him on the www in the shintani.ca site.
