Kendoka DVD

Check out our publications page for details (http://www.kendo-world.com/kw_publications/index.php) on a new DVD focussing on the UK women's kendo team in their build-up to the Glasgow World Kendo Champs. It follows them as they prepare, including gasshuku and the actual champs. (As a New Zealander, it wasn't so good to see them beating us, though!)

We're going to be selling it on behalf of the creators, a group of kendo enthusiasts doing something on the side from their usual jobs in the BBC and other professional television production areas.

I was really impressed by the production quality, and the interviews were very good, touching on a lot of aspects of kendo that are usually glossed over by interviewers with no experience.

It also includes very good shiai shots from a couple of different camera angles, including a superb shot of Eiga's winning tsuki. If you were in doubt about the validity of that point, this will leave no doubt whatsoever!!

I think it's very good both for experienced kendoka, and also serves as a good introduction for beginners or partners and family members.

We're getting the first run organised now, so please post below or email (subscribe@kendo-world.com) me if you're interested in getting a copy.

It will be US$25, with postage on top of that.

We're getting a trailer done now, so it will give you a better idea of what it looks like.

Sure, just let me know, either by mail, or as a comment on your order. The DVD may be sent from a different distribution center than Inoue sensei's book and the magazines, however.

I have received and watched this DVD (several times)... Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Some very inspiring insights into Kendoka spirit and also an interesting perspective on international competition...

Yes... this is the same one...

I do recommend it for its insight into team dynamics in Kendo... it's a good programme...

i'm in the dvd and heavily un-shaven. luckily they cut my talking parts out!!! instead you see me getting massaged (by a man!). i must admit, its MUCH better than I hoped (the DVD, not the massage).

although it talks about kendo in a way to explain it to non-kendoka, it is good and does capture some of the feeling of the team. if you can get it, please do. its not to blow the trumpet of the UK team or anything, and nobody on the team gets any money from it.... its just an interesting kendo dvd which also happens to be in English.

i am glad kendo-world is here to distribute such items, and i hope to see more in the future.

I completely missed the broadcast of this as i was on holiday, i asked a mate with Sky+ to try and catch it for me but he didn't:mad: so i still haven't seen it, Has anybody seen it or got a copy of it? Was it good, does it exist? Caqn somebody let me know.
