i jus got a shinai leather kti thingy and theres this small piece of leather and i cant figure out what it is, its rougly an inch or so and theres holes on either side of it. Can anybody tell me what it is?

i believe thats meant to replace the loop made on the tsuru before knotting it against the tsukagawa. i've seen most japanese shinai with this piece of leather on this part umm....

Halifax Kendo has pictures on attaching the leather piece, but the leather piece has a slit through the middle instead of holes.

Hehe, now I dont have a shinai loop that comes undone every time I disassemble my shinai :D

Instead of passing the string through the loop you pass it through the thingamadoodle.
