I live in hawaii, and contrary towhat most people think, It looks nothing like the post cards! Also "hawaiian" culture now really isn't hawaiian its a mix. For example people in hawaii don't really speak hawaiian, unless its just a few words like "Mahalo" which meas thank you "aloha" which means, hi, goodbye, love a lot of things. Then theirs pidgin. Its a "slang" i guess. In pidgin ( which everybody in hawaii usually speaks) u hear Things like "Bra" which means friend i guess but you have to allready be talking to the person when you say it.
Here is one of my favorite pidgin phrases' "eh bra, u dakine?". Now i know alot of people are probably like what th heck? But let me explain the word Dakine. Dakine could mean pretty mucha any thing. for example if i think your stupid, i could say."eh u dakine" and it will be the same as if i called you smart, sexy or anything else. Oh and its pronounced (DA kind without the d).
Another one of my favorite phrases is "Rah jah dat". This meas I got it.
Anybody else want to post some of their cultures, "things" or find out more about "pidgin"?
