How often do you clean your bogu and what is the best method?

I clean it everytime after using it. I spray my bogu with lysol disinfectant, brush the bogu mune, wipe the do, dry the men and kote, and whenever there is sunshine I take everything out including the tare and let is sit outside and shine for awhile, just like clothing, it removes the sweat smell and instead gives a nice sunshine smell.

meh..i leave it outside as well..usually in a shady area, not in direct sunlight

I make sure to towel all damp areas after every practice. On a weekly basis,
I use a bogu Deodorizer that I bought from Eguchi which works great. I also use
a brush to remove any salt stains esp on the Men.

I leave newspaper inside kote while I dry them and it works very well. It takes the bad sweat smell away too.

better read the back of the bottle first. as i remember it, it doesn't suggest you to spray it on leather or was that febreeze?....better check first.

Hmmm...

Is Febreeze safe on bogu? I remember that it discolored one of my T shirts once (unless it was something I didn't know about, or the sun really faded the thing... it was a brand new shirt, but when I sprayed it into the dorm closet, the sleeve turned an off color within a week or two)... don't want to have that happen to my bogu.

There was naother thread that was running some time ago regarding the use of steam cleaning equipment to clean bogu...

If I remember rightly some dojos were clubbing together to buy the machines and clean equipment...

I will try and dig it out...
