Yesterday I recieved an e-mail from Tozando announcing the opening of a new store, http://kendo-bogu.com/ (http://kendo-bogu.com/)
Good Grades make my father happy and his wallet loose so I will probably buy the 2mm set this week or the next one. I'll post a review when I get it.

I got that e-mail too.

Why are they opening an additional store?

It's kind of like the whole iaito with Tozando vs. Nishijin...both belong to Tozando...so why the different store front?

Well one is in Yen the other in Dollars so I would suspect they are gearing the storefronts to different audiences.

I received that mail too.

I agree that's a specific store for international customers. The prices also differ from the original store. I noticed that they don't sell shinais here. Only bogus and clothing. Some of the he prices are a nice surprise. I hope that the quallity of the products doesn't suffer from that.

Perhaps Tozando intends to become the Time-Warner of Bogu shops.
Either way the prices are nice and, hey, nothing says class like animated GIFs

You have to be a bit careful with that new store. Because I was "Visa shopping" for a new keikogi the other night, and guess what happened: First I decided to get a keikogi from kendo-bogu.com. I got so far as to nearly paying with my Visa through PayPal. The message was that the order wouldn't be processed unless I paid. Then I changed my mind (I'm a woman..) and bought a cheaper gi from somewhere else. But now I got a mail from kendo-bogu.com that says that I have to pay, and the keikogi is shipped. This is the first time I've actually bought something without paying for it first. I have paid for it now, because sending it back will probably cost as much, totally. So I think that kendo-bogu.com should leave a message somewhere how ordering and payment actually works.

So now I have two new keikogis--guess I have to practise even harder to justify my shopping...

they seem like good prices, but the shipping is a bit on the expensive side

they seem like good prices, but the shipping is a bit on the expensive sideNot for me, they charge the same as the korean shops. About 32USD for shipping a keikogi. E-bogu on the other hand, charges 45USD.

Ooo, if their service level is the same, you can expect to get in a couple of months.

Yes it is. I waited one month for a keiko-gi and hakama.

On their website for bogu it says 4-6 weeks for production...what the?? Does it really take that long for a machine made?

Also, does anyone know their shipping fees for bogu? Doesn't seem to say on on the site.

Hi,

I decided to buy my first bogu set. After Extensive Reasearch and high Recommendations, I decided to Buy my Bogu from www.sehyun.com - here are my reasons.

My recommendations were from a fifth dan Japanese kendoka.

I checked out the folowing sites:
www.ninecircles.co.uk
www.chiba-budogu.com
www.e-bogu.com
www.e-modu.com
www.ebay.com - which had good looking deals for Australia
www.sehyun.com
The sehyun prices were very reasonable compared to the other sites.

The sehyun 1.2 Bu handstiched general set(the colour of stiching I got to choose.), was only £450 all in, easily half the price of most of the other sets, on the wesites I checked. Lots of experienced kendoka/referees/sensei inspected the bogu. The remarked on the fine Bogu, and the good price. The bogu sets started at around £200. I even got a free leather imitation carry bag, and head scarf.

I had to pay via transfer, through my bank. And I recieved my bogu within a week.

I tested the set at the Irish national shiai, and in practice, It was quality. and very comfortable. I never felt hurt, even when faced with the aggressive, all out, tense style, of one of the kendoka in Eireland.

I dont rule out the quality of the bogu at other websites, but I can recommend the value and quality of sehyun.

I hope this article is of some use to any kendoka out there.
