I just toke my new shinai apart, and it didn't have a sakigomu. What do i do? Does anybody know where you can buy shinai parts online?

The little red rings are just for shipping. You have to remove them before you use the shinai.

As for the sakigomu (plastic stopper at the top of the shinai): You can buy them from any kendo online-shop. But maybe one of your dojo-mates has some of them, when he broke one of his shinais and used the staves for replacement.

Richiro,

If you bought your shinai from a mail-order place, you might want to contact them and tell them that the sakigomu was not installed in your shinai when it was shipped. They should provide you with another, but I believe that if one of your dojo mates has an extra, that would be the quickest and easiest way to get one. Your sensei probably has dozens of them lying around.

You might also give some feedback to the place that you bought the shinai from, that way, they know that they messed up. Depending on how they respond to your feedback (make it courteous, but firm), you will know whether or not you want to buy anything else from them.

Whichever path you choose, may it be beneficial for you.

Look inside the leather tip, often it stays in there when you take the shinai apart.
