Squeaky Do

I just started wearing the bogu that I got last week and something interesting is happening. My bogu squeaks whenever I move. Is there a way that I can combat this or is it just something that happens when you wear a new do?

Where are the squeaks coming from? If it sounds like it's coming from inside, it could be your keikogi rubbing against the inside of your do. It could also be rubbing between your tare and the lower part of your do.

If it sounds like it's higher up or on the outside, it may be the munechikawa squeaking against the do-himo. I hear mine squeak occasionally, but I don't pay any attention to it, and it's doubtful anyone else hears it, or if they do, they don't pay attention to it, either.

They're coming from the inside when it rubs against the tare. I've actually become quite the celebrity in the club with it...:)

See if you can play a tune with the squeaking, that will make you even more popular. Maybe some "Hit me with your best shot" or "For those about to Rock"

Seriously though, don't worry about it as the more you wear it that noise will disappear.

AAAHhhhhh This brings me back to when i had first bought my bogu....


It had begun to squeak but i soon realised it was the rubber on the bottom of the do rubing against the tare. What was even more embarrasing was that i was taking big (BIG no i don't think you get it ,BIG )breaths during mokusou... *sigh, made a little more noise than you want....

This thread puts a smile on my face, especially since I can now trace the first day I got to wear bogu :P.

The solution at the time was to use mink oil or something to rub on the leather pieces to prevent the extra noises. I've since gotten a new set of bogu and I haven't had that problem.

My bogu is three years old and my doh still does that. It makes me want to hold my breath during mokuso, which sort of defeats the purpose. I'm going to try the mink oil idea and see if I can get rid of it - thanks.
