While doing hiki-waza drills, there was a little mishap and my partner ended up doing fumikomi-ashi onto my big toe. The entire toenail is bruised a dark shade of purple and I anticipate it to turn black and eventually fall off entirely. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions as to how to take care of my toe while it heals (and how long it'll take to do so), as well as precautions to take during kendo practices in the coming months, because I don't want to stop doing kendo just because of a bruised toenail.

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. Yes, my big toenail did end up falling off entirely, but I kinda got a strange amusement watching the purple part of the nail grow out. When it did eventually fall off after a shower one day, I was delighted to find that there was actually a new nail growing underneath!

As for how to take care of it until then, I'd recommend taping it up with sports tape during practice so that you don't accidentially tear it off if you stub it again.

Yeah, that would hurt a LOT! Just remember not to put the tape directly on the nail... put a piece of gauze or something between, so you don't rip the nail off when you remove the tape.

Depends on how fast your nails grow. Mine took 10 months to come off. I also had a morbid fascination with watching it progress.

It happened to me probably about a year ago now. Hurt a lot, so much so the throbbing kept me up all night. Went black instantly, I still training in fact I didn't stop went it happen - I was visiting a new dojo for the first time and didn't dare. I was just really careful and took it easy when I trained with my feet. It took ages to heal but I found that - as nasty as it sounds- training helped because although it hurt it seperated the nail from the dried blood a little which helped the healing and new nail grow.

I'm afraid I think you'll just have to grin and bare it, there is little that you can do.

And by the way my nail has still not healed properly.
