I know of the weight regulations for shinai, but are there any weight standards for bokken? (in grams, for regular bokken, not suburito) I've seen many different wood types, and depending on the wood it seemed to range anywhere from 400 to 850 grams, so I was wondering, what is/should be the approximate weight of a bokken?

With bokken I am pretty sure that there isn't a regulation size, since they aren't used in shiai, but are just used for suburi and kata(usually). It is just a preference thing, to my knowledge.

bokken do have regulations.my sensei made a bokken for himself(one of the cooler things i saw.he cut a bokken at the middle and inserted stainless steel core all the way through and a special tsuka, which came out perfectly balanced and heavy, about 2or so kilo's) and when we did katas he said that he cant use the bokken for katas becasue of the regulations.

That is an interesting way of balancing/adding weight to your bokken.

But a 2 kilo sword would be considered a suburito because the weight is about the same. So it's not a normal bokken.

The AJKF size specifications of the boku-toh are:

Length of boku-toh Length of tsuka

Tachi Approx 102 cm Approx 24 cm
ku-dachi Approx 55 cm Approx 14 cm

No weights are specified, but they are usually made of oak, locquat or other wood.
