Yes, yes, I know, I am the current "Big Bad Guy" here, but I have a suggestion. To stop people like me, trolls, from coming here, why don't the moderators look at their I.P. addresses. Then ban them that way. Or, to a more extreme limit, not allow people to register with a free email account, e.g. yahoo. This would stop trolls from getting new accounts and registering again and again.
Over and out.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, but if people want to troll, they will find a way to do so.

The problem with getting rid of free e-mail services is people like me who don't troll will be banned. I do like the IP idea though.
ow so only people that pay for there e-mail adresses get to participate in dicussions.

Let's just stick to a IP ban. :p

The way a person is banned is by the IP address or the e-mail address. As far as I know, those are the only ways to ban a person. Banning just the e-mail is worthless, IMHO. I don't know on this board which method the moderators use though. Even so, a clever person will know how to get around an IP ban. Most won't go through the trouble though unless they are just determined enough to do it. I feel it is a waste of the banned person's time do so, because they will just get caught and get banned yet again. It is easy to see if it is the same person most of the time.

On one of my forums, we also had the option by a username ban... -shrug-

hehe, Hadn't thought of that one. I only knew of the two I said above. I think a username ban would be the weakest type of ban the three though. If it was me, I'd use the IP ban.

I think even IP bans are a bad idea.
1. Dial up modems have a different IP evertime
2. Some broadband services periodically change your ip without you knowing it
3. You can most likely make a simple call and have your ISP change your IP for you
The solution to the above, is to do a broader IP ban, namely banning all IP's that begin with the same codes. This means that admin would be banning full ISP's and locations, meaning that someone who isnt a "troll" who would want to use these forums wouldnt be able to.

Everyone is different here.. the one thing we share is Kendo perhaps Kendo and users (meep) should be the only topics in the flames section?
(yes i have my views & opinons)(yes im aware i have shared my views and opinons on religion & politics..i didnt just get hit over the head)
Im just tired of people fighting, being nasty, questioning others faiths & beliefs and not showing any respect. *runs and hides*

I think that posting your religious beliefs and ideas is a healthy thing because we're all different. I also believe that challenging peoples ideologys can be a good thing as well (hold on, I'll get to my point).
It just gets ugly when people start bad mouthing each other.
There is a difference between a productive debate and just swearing at each other.
Let's all remember we're all here to have fun and learn from each other!
Cheers!

I do actually ban on IP and address, but as mentioned above, a lot of ADSL services, dial-ups etc get a new IP every time they connect. The old-fashioned way seems to work the best, with minimal chance of cutting out anyone who shouldn't be banned.
