is what you're referring to monkey kung fu?
iirc pekwa is something like axe fist right?
edit: I looked up the spelling and it seems to be tai shing pekwa(r)
edit2: I remember that it was created by a man trapped in jail. The escape door was open but in front of it was a bunch of monkeys that attacked (and sometimes killed) the people who walked out. the guards didnt even pay attention knowing that the prisoners would not be able to escape.
as the story goes on of the men was an experienced martial artist and developed a style based on certain characteristics of the monkey. The ones I remember were drunken monkey and stone monkey. iirc there were a few more besides those. using these skills he eventually escaped and taught his style blah blah blah.
He reportedly named part of the style after the hero of the famous "journey west" epic. the second was after another style he practiced (pekwar) that he incorporated into the monkey style.

Wow that sounds a lot like the words "ba gwa" or 8 circle, the kungfu style to fight an army by yourself.

You might want to look up Paulie Zink in regards to Monkey Fist.

I suggest you visit the KungFu magazine forums (http://forum.kungfumagazine.com/forum/index.php?) and ask about Ta Sheng Pi Kwa.
