Well, for the white low price keikogi try Kendoshop. You can either buy a separate keikogi/hakama or a set. I use this white set and I'm very pleased with it! The gi or hakama is $18. The set $33 (spring sale)

White himo for both do and men can be found here as well. $3 for do himo, $5 for men. I have no idea why the set is more expensive ($9), but that is what they have written at their website...

You might also want to check out Tozando. They have the things you are looking for as well...

Ehhh... The prices stated above will rise with size so the price of the set will range from $33-$37 as will the separat hakama/gi... Sorry my mistake! :o

Here is another supplyer of kendo equipment in the UK.

They have white hakama and gi. I couldn't find any white himo, but they might get it for you if you email them and ask.

White doh himo? Do they exist? I've seen white men himo though.

Yes. Naginata-ka typically use them because of the white Uwagi. This way you do not have to bleach out the blue lines left from indigo himo.after each session in Bogu

Have you all tried looking at www.e-bogu.com (http://www.e-bogu.com) I believe they ship to the UK. They have an office in Swizterland. They have a single layer white keikogi for US$49 and white do himo for US$13.

Did you buy the oval womens 38 as well? If so, it would be nice if you could post a review of balance, durability, over all feel etc.

Cheers!/K

I got my hakama and gi from kendoshop, sorry i should have been more accurate.

They have a white uniform set for $33 which is a bargain so i decided to take advantage of a great saving :)

:p That's the one I'm currently using! I think it's very good for the price. Easy to maintain and no greater loss if something bad happens to it... Hope I can get the money to order a new set while they still have the sale.

when i got my white hakama and gi, some of my sempai started calling me a prima donna. XD

have fun keeping it clean, it picks up dirt and indigo dye really easily. don't use chlorine bleach, it'll turn the fabric yellow. go with non-chlorine bleach if you can find it, but you still may have to do a bit of scrubbing. X_X

i'm just gonna go with blue next time.

I've got some white Men and Do himo lyin around my house somwhere, It's old, but its much more softer than the himo we use now days. FYI, its only been used 10times the most. (Late 1980's bogu [father's], bought at a really good place in SF, CA)

I have a white KWON keikogi for summer practice (it's thinner than even the cheapest single layer indigo kendogi I found) and after more than 2 years of use, it doesn't show any persistant indigo color (though I have blue do himo and bogu) or dirt at all.
I never bleached it, only wash with the regular 'heavy duty' laundry like towels etc. at 40 celsius.

p.s. I am a primadonna, so it fits me. :smoker: Would never wear it for grading or a semiar (with japanese sensei) though.

i own a blue gi+ hakama set from kendoshop, and a white set, and there's nothing wrong with it for the price. altought there are slightly higer quality hakama made out of tetron, the one they sell is still good. gi's are no prob at all, so its a bargain, if shipping is cheap to you place.

i also wear the white set, mostly for kata, or normal, no one ever complained. only seminars or when a japanese sensei is visiting i don't wear it. it is simply a matter of: you need a few gi's and hakamas if you train a lot...

keeping it clean is not so much of an hassle, most likely the ends of the hakama strings get dirty or the gi from the do himos...oh well...

now i'm awaiting my #10000 hakama... my bogu just arrived... :)

I bought my uniform from Tozando. It cost me around $95. It was on sale though, it normally sells for around $250. Kendoshop has very low prices, generally the quality is according to that.
