in okinawan bo technique do the hands generally slide along the length of the weapon or just stay put in their original grip?

I don't take Jo or Bo, but it slides pretty cooly. If I ever get content with Kenjutsu, I'll take up bo.

yah i bet its good. okinawans are famous for bo i believe. my sensei showed me some japanese "jo" technique it was really nice. but difficult since the hands must slide so far. so smooth though.
