Hey Dude! Is there a karate dojo in your area? I seem to recall that nunchaku is one of the subsets of karate, or maybe it's kung fu. I don't know where you're located geographically, so can't tell you for sure. You might check with the U.S. Karate Federation at http://www.usakarate.org to see if they have any information for you.

I made some home made nunchakus afew years ago. What I usualy did for practice was to hold one nunchaku over my left sholder and the other under my arm-pit (http://www.gorinkai.com/cine/fotos/furor2.jpg). Hard to explain but then you pull the one under your armpit throw it out and over the other sholder so your arms are then swaped.

See how fast you can do it!

Or buy this (http://www.artoftoy.com/brleenute1.html) and tell me what else you can do with thouse things :D.

funny thing, I remember reading somewhere that nunchaku were developed recently, there being no record of such weapons being used in Japan, China, Korea, or other countries of Southeast Asia.

Most people never heard of them until the Bruce Lee movies, same as with shiriken coming from the movie "Kung Fu".

Samurai-x, if you do find something about it, good luck and don't beat your brains out with them.

You want to look for an Okinawan dojo. The Nunchuk was originaly a rice flail, used to seperate the rice from the husk.

Actually, they more resemble a horse's bridle in Okinawa. You can e-mail b-denison@comcast.net to get his theory on the origins of some weapons.
