OK, I'll start...

Dinuguan - Filipino blood stew with all the nice inside parts of the pig
Haggis - Sheep's stomach filled with sheep's blood, heart, and other sheeps insides chopped up and mixed with onions and oats, then steamed
Morcilla - Spanish blood sausage with rice or onion stuffing
Jellyfish - well, not so strange but good anyways
Balut - Boiled duck egg with fetal duckling, with sea salt
Rabbit - oven roasted with peppers and potatoes. Maybe not so strange, but this is sure to get the goat of all those people who love the cuddly-wuddly widdle wabbits...
Roasted Fetal Pig (I believe that's what Cochinillon is, right?)- mmm... more tender than veal...
Durian - an extremely smelly fruit that tastes of a sweet creamy onion custard, mmm, mmm, good...
Fish Cheeks, and Tongues - battered and fried or in soup

Various other pig, cow, goat, and sheep parts... Then the usual East Asian sort of stuff such as uni, sea cucumber (a jelly like animal, NOT a vegetable), century egg, deep fried pigeons, birds' nest soup, shark's fins, stinky tofu, etc... Something my mother had described to me once that she's had as a child, I'd love to try is pigs' brains, sliced and dipped in egg, then pan-fried and sprinkled with sugar. One thing I absolutely did not like is natto. Had it once and hated it! My wife and brother-in-law both eat it and when they do, the house smells of gnarly feet. So how 'bout you guys? :D

Don't make me hungry for low quolity English/Scotch food :D! I'm still trying to find polk-scratchings here in Japan. There is some thing called sage they put in soup and things which is some kind of rind but not hard and salty like pork scratchings :D.

I've had fish stomach salad in a thai restaurant in Wollongong. It's not actually the stomach, I believe that it's the air ballast lining which fishes use to store air for ballast. It's yummy!

By the way, durian is normal food for south-east asians. Heck it doesn't even contain innards for crying out loud. :D

Other food I've tried: chicken feet at yum cha. I couldn't stand the stuff. Beef innards like tripe and all that. Yuck! I've even tried turtle stew whilst in Malaysia! *shudder*

Has anyone tried snake meat/blood/bile in Thailand or Hong Kong?

Weird food:

To Foreigners-

Durians- The Akuma of Fruits

Beef tripe at Yum Cha

Chicken Feet

Goose Tongue

Monitor Lizard...mmmm tasty.

Petai- a type of pungent bean in sambal(chilli & Onian paste). It smells a lot worse coming out...sorta like mustard gas.

Fish Head Curry-yes...it was such a waste watching them throw 'em away in Oz

Fugu...nice but never again

Musang- Civit Cat

Pig blood, heart, etc etc

Weird to me:

Natto----no didn't enjoy this one.

Grubs (roasted)...not bad

Haggis....mmmmm

Black Pudding...mmmm

Lamb fries-Testicles...never again...tho' at the time they were real good till I realised what they were.

For those not in the know, durian is a fruit! It's also the King of Fruits, (or Akuma of Fruits as Meng said).

I've had squirrels and emu meat as well.

When I first tried unagi, I was kinda freaked out at first but got better since. Unagi-don is one of my favourite food.

Unagi...I don't mind but I think its a bit muddy for my taste.

escargot....mmmm

Frog Legs?!?!? Wait till you try jungle bull frog. The bloody things are about 2 feet in lenght (nose to feet stretched out). Its like eating a chicken!

hahaha...its like when i was in Bath and my colleague says to me "you gotta try these king prawns! they are like this big!" *demonstrates by showing about 3 inches lenght* and then I pointed out that back in Malaysia where most of UK's seafood come from a king prawn is about 3/4 of a foot in lenght.

I believe your talking about 뻔데기 roughly can be spelled like pon-degi in english, yeah cooked silk worms in korea, they even sell it cans at minimarts and markets in Korea, but the freshly cooked ones by vendors on the streets are better, really like it sadly I'm allergic too it! ^^;

Birria - stewed goat, the head's in there somewhere
Poi - mashed taro root, looks like papier mache'
Chorizo - don't ask, you don't really want to know
Fried chicken feet - it's the visual that was moderately disturbing. All those little feet standing on a nice platter.
Fried jellyfish
Haggis - Aye, haggis...

I have had the chance to eat most of the things that have been listed so far, and with the exception of those boiled half-hatched duck eggs, I really don't mind most food, as long as it's tasty.

The Taiwanese specialty "Pearl Milk Tea" is made from milk tea and tapioca or yam-powder balls (aka "pearls"). No frogs were harmed in the process. They were sometimes named "frogs' eggs" as a way of branding, (the same thing about them being named "pearls" now).

When I was in kindergarten, for the longest time I thought they were either frogs' eggs or rabbit poo (it looks very similar!).

The drink go for an arm-and-a-leg overseas, but you can buy 500ccs for less than 1 USD here in Taiwan and they are absolutely EVERYWHERE! Be warned though, the "pearls" are extremely fattening.

The frogs' ovaries Andoru mentioned is a separate Cantonese dessert, namely "Shui-Ha". It's actually quite good.

Hehehe...man I miss the exploding beef balls(get your mind out of the gutter guys) in Mongkok. Its like beef ball with a hollow centre filled with fish maw...omg, you gotta either put hte whole thing in yer mouth or bite really slowly...lest your want a spray of juice showering the people around you.

You can see it in the movie "God of Cookery" by Stephen Chow(Kung Fu Hustle).

Ooooooooooo...for you Aussies out there! Have you tried the pie floaters in Adelaide? Basically you place a meat pie upside down in a bowl and then pour pea soup around it...sorta looks like a island in a green sea...

Cool!! How did you guys win it? What did you name it?

I love bunnies! One time, when I lived in San Diego, CA about 10 years ago, my friend and I went to this place called Seaport Village by the SD Harbour which is an open air mall by the ocean, I saw this lady walking her two pet lop ear bunnies on leashes. I got to walk them around and then hold one of them. It promptly fell asleep on my lap. I didn't have my camera, darn it! It was soooo cute!!! I never saw a bunny walk on a leash until then. Too cute!! :D They were really soft, too.

Chorizo - don't ask, you don't really want to know

What's wrong with chorizo? It's just really greasy pork meat chopped up, spiced, cooked and stuffed in a cellophane tube (years ago it was intestine lining but not anymore) which you then fried and ate. It contains ungodly amounts of fat but nothing really revolting there.

Talking about all this yummy food makes me hungry .... (durian, octopus, sashimi, sushi, sea urchin etc.) No not the rabbits (although there does seems to be too many of them nowdays)

The most disgusting food I ate and HAD actually enjoyed is...the Big Mac which contains: 510 calories, 26 grams of fat (about 40 percent of the recommended daily intake) and 930 grams of sodium (39 percent RDI). :ko: ewww....

Where EVER did you FIND that??? GEEZ!!! I was laughing but was REALLY disgusted at the same time! What is that heartless person doing... trying to get money for COLLEGE?!?! That is just about the, the, most HORRIBLE sad thing!!! He wants to eat the little cute bunny. I want to get the bunny and find him a nice home. I can't have a bunny myself. My poodle puppy would drive the poor thing to distraction chasing it thinking it's a toy.

He just wants to make money off the poor little thing. I really hope he doesn't actually EAT it. He saved it so the bunny probably LOVES him. How cruel can a person get?? :( I hope it's a joke.

there is really nothing bad about eating your rabbit. Just because it is cute it doesn't mean he is any better than pigs or cows. Personally I want them to get the 50 thousand. It would be scientific proof of human idiocy. Personally I'm doing my bit, I bought a t-shirt, a cap and some thongs (NO THEY ARE NOT FOR ME).
How cruel can a person be? He can be horrified at the death of a rabbit while human killings abound.

Questions on legality from the site:
Isn't this extortion?

Extortion is a criminal offense, which occurs when a person obtains money, behaviour, or other goods and/or services from another by wrongfully threatening or inflicting harm to his person, reputation, or property.

Take notice to the line that says “to HIS person, reputation, or property”. This is a key phrase because yes, I am threatening Toby’s life, but Toby is MY property. There is no law against threatening your own property. Would it be illegal for me to tell someone I’m going to bash my car windshield in if they don’t give me 50 bucks? Nope.
Hey, this is animal cruelty!!

Wrong again, chief. I am doing nothing cruel to Toby. In fact, I am trying to give him the best life of any rabbit in the world. That is exactly why I need your help. Toby has not been tortured or abused in anyway. I am taking Toby to a butcher (hopefully not and you have the power to help prevent this by donating!) so that if he has to die, it will happen in the most humane way possible.

This is animal cruelty as defined by the ASPCA: 1. A person is guilty of aggravated cruelty to animals when, with no justifiable purpose, he or she intentionally causes serious physical injury to a companion animal with aggravated cruelty. For purposes of this section, "aggravated cruelty" shall mean conduct which: (i) is intended to cause extreme physical pain; or (ii) is done or carried out in an especially depraved or sadistic manner.
Grr, this is fraud!

No, this website is quite real. I have Toby in my possession and I will in fact eat him if I do not receive 50 thousand dollars. This of course is the worst possible outcome and one I desperately want to avoid. I love that little fella!
Are these donations tax exempt?

I know alot of people out there are saying to themselves... "This site is awesome, and I want to help save toby. That being said, are these donations Tax exempt?"

The person out there saying this is obviously a smart, well educated member of the upper echelon of society. Unfortunately no donations can be written off against your taxes. I am not a non-profit organization. Sorry, but Uncle Sam needs his too.

there is really nothing bad about eating your rabbit. Just because it is cute it doesn't mean he is any better than pigs or cows. Personally I want them to get the 50 thousand. It would be scientific proof of human idiocy.
Yes, I quite agree, as I come from an asian country we eat nearly all the parts of cows and pigs. Rabbits breed amazingly fast and the average life span of a rabbit is 5 to 8 years. Some can have up to 8 baby rabbits in a litter; so by 2050 how many rabbits will we have on earth? :ko:

>_< !!! Wanna take the bunny home!

It's mean. Therefore, they are WRONG.

Oh, I agree with you both on that point. What I DO NOT agree with, is the way those two are holding the bunny hostage and using it as a way to get money. They are cruel. They saved a living creature and were nice to it, and now they want to EAT it? I have a HUGE problem with that. They don't deserve to EVER have pets of ANY kind due to this sordid thing.

Eating rabbit is one thing. This is an entirely different matter. Therefore, I am totally against it. If I was in person, I'd take that bunny from them so quick they wouldn't have a chance to BLINK! Grrrrr!!!

I don't know how I feel about breeding them to eat, but eating wild ones does keep the population down. Just like deer. I hate hunting, and would never hunt, but they'll starve if they become too numurous. :( What a confusing issue...

Have you no concern for the plants?????, several tests have provided results which indicate that plants do feel pain. Besides, unlike rabbits whose main function is to be cute and die silly deaths, they provide us with oxygen, essential for our living.

VEGGIES ARE MURDER
The Tomato that you fancifully slice
Is not succulent, tasty or nice
It's death for no reason
And death for no reason is MURDER

It's not natural normal or kind
The plant that you festively slice
The leaves in your mouth
As you savour the flavour
Of MURDER
NO, NO, NO, IT'S MURDER
NO, NO, NO, IT'S MURDER
Who hears when plants cry?

What they say ->
The brains behind savetoby.com are two college students:
"We've been getting tremendously varied responses," says one of the partners. "Many of which include death threats almost on a daily basis."
Asked whether the Web site was a joke, he responded, "No, not at all. As a matter of fact, it's very serious. If we don't get $50,000, we are going to eat the rabbit.":ogre:

They should use their intelligence and effort on something "useful" instead of messing with our minds ( which is actually making them rich) $_$

I think its GoDaddy.com (an Arizona company that hosts the site whom refuses to pull the plug) who are responsible for this messing with our minds act- Bob Parsons, GoDaddy founder and president says, "There's nothing illegal about the Web site. It's perfectly legal to eat a rabbit." - How unthoughtful of him to say

Also on the site that Andoru-san found for us said that there had been many cases like these - one called savefluffy.com which was also hosted by GoDaddy.

Still too many rabbits won't do us any good.

frogs: to be more specific, fried frogs
lenggua: i'm pretty sure it's a cow's tongue
kilawin: pig's ear
balut: little ducks with embryo....i think

Savetoby.com is one of the most brilliant internet marketing ideas out there - I would rank it right next to realultimatepower.net - good enough to earn more than enough attention from innocent girls with an average IQ!! "Owww so cruel to a cute bunny!!" Right. If that's a piggy you'd say the same thing, or a chicken, or the baby T-rex in Jurassic Park II, or whatever baby animal you find. Too much sentiments from you fellow carnivores!!

Yes, it is quite brilliant, but also is very base and thoughtless, though it seems to be untrue now. Eating rabbit is one thing. Holding a poor rabbit hostage after saving it and nuturing it and threatening to eat it if you don't get money is entirely another situation. Real or fake, it's wrong.

It has nothing to do with intelligence, Mingshi. RUP.com is quite fake, and it is quite obvious that it is. I know you don't like me(Who knows why. I never did anything to you.), but you don't have to always insult me. There is nothing wrong with feeling sorry for a bunny. At least I'm not mean.

Take one cod and dry for ages (stockfish). Soak in Sodium Hydroxide for 72 hours. Make D*mn sure you rinse it for long enough. Mmmm... the first one sounds pretty good. The second one sounds like a bit of a risk though (although probably also good in its own way), but reminds me of a Native Canadian dish in BC where they bury a salmon head in dirt to ferment. Speaking of fermented fish, Filipino bagoong, which is fermented fish and/or shrimp paste is quite good. Filipino patis, or fermented fish sauce is also quite good, but is also eaten all over SE Asia, and probably much like Roman garum. BTW, isn't the process for kimchi similar (i.e., the burying part)?

we have an annual event in a town near me called the
"hokitika Wild Foods festival" where crazy people get together and pay to go and eat many of the things that have been mentioned, and more.
i went one year, found it funnier to watch everyone else gagging on everything, but i did try seagull, the verdict being that it is very gamey, and not particularly nice, but definitely edible.

i had a friend who has been trakking in the amazon many years ago, and their tour came across a tribe that lived there that had been out hunting and were smoking their monkeys to eat. when he was offered a whole monkey arm, skin, fur, hands and all, he had no choice but to eat it, what with all the spears and dangerous looking implements lying around.... he lived.
