Criticisms on Kamae eh ?
*grins*
-left foot not parallel with the kamae centre
-whole body is leaning forward too much
-pointing the shinai too high (although you were fighting don at the time i think, so that tends to happen for most of us).
-you grip your shinai from the outside, instead you should be holding it from top to bottom. Difficult to understand, next time at the practise ask me and i'll explain.
Keep fighting
P.S.
Any chance of getting more pics that your friend took that session ?

What's up with the socks?
And it looks like your looking out above the monomi, a sign that your men doesn't fit you.
Your do also looks a little big for you.

Commander, I agree with Danny Boy. Your arms seem to be a little too high, but then again, during keiko, one's kamae changes, depending how you are attacking and such....

Arms are a little high and too bent - try to let them hang in a more natural, relaxed fashion. Your grip in both hands is far too open - rotate your wrists inward so that the Vs formed by thumb and forefinger are on top of the tsuka. Your left heel is not straight and the heel is up too high. There is too much weight on your right foot as a result of the poor left foot position. You should ditch the tabi - they're a crutch. I suspect these are all comments you've heard from your own instructors.

i take it tabi aren't good then?

By adding tabi you're removing a primary feedback mechanism - if your feet hurt without them, you need to fix your footwork. With them on, there's no motivation to change. Plus they can be slippery - much better to rely on your own feet. If you want to wear them in competition, you need to justify it by actually being injured, not just because you always wear them.

At least you look the look, now you got to walk the walk and talk the talk. Always wanted to say this after watching Full Metal Jacket. Right now all we have to do is wait for Hai-Hai to critisize your Bogu choice, to put insult to injury.
Keep on fighting

Neil, i'll try doing kendo without them and see how it goes, probably need to try and get used to bare feet now.

I don't use tabi, but why are they a crutch?
Ahhh ignore this message, I'm just too slow. =P

Anybody any idea why I can never see the images people put in their posts?
I just get the red cross in a box thing.
I can see the images some people have in their signatures - it's in the main body of the post I never get to see them.
Cheers

So you think tabi are crutches, what about heal protectors. I'm thinking about getting one because during ji-geiko I sometimes take bad steps :(

are you running windows explorer? make sure you have java script running up to date. It also might have something to do with your settings.

I know I'm a little late to the conversation but anyway...
I like your picture, I love seeing pic's of me doing kendo but I'm always doing something I shouldn't or not looking just right - but they're fun all the same. Your club looks pretty cool too, I wish we had mirrors I think they can be sooo beneficial.
As to comments on your form - to be honest I think your likely to get far better and more productive advice from fellow club members who see your kendo and not just your kendo in one frozen moment.
By the way I wore tabi's for a while, I hate my feet getting getting dirty and I hate men's feet, it nearly put me off kendo - being a clean girly! I didn't wear them for competition, grading etc. but often did for my weekly normal training. I could take them off and on without ever getting blisters or sore feet and I still don't suffer pain with my feet from doing kendo. I don't wear them now because I lost them in London, but just got some more to wear at comps when I not fencing and just walking around. And I wouldn't think twice about wearing them again to train in on a dirty bad floor. That's just my story!

With you 100% Akasha-San... Some Dojo floors are nauseating (and I say this although I am not a clean girly!!!)...
Commander-San... wear the Tabi if your Sensei is okay with it and it makes you feel more comfortable...
cheers
