I`m planning on buying my bogu from ebogu .. Hopefully a 4/2mm one.. I was wondering if people who have bought bogu from E-bogu before, are satisfied with their purchase... and if its worth it =D .
thanks

I was happy with my set for the most part. I'm not sure if I'm totally satisfied with my kote, probably would've perfered deer leather instead...But the kote will still last a long time and I'm just being picky. I also got a customization and I was happy with it as well. :3
(Side note, they are awesome about shipping fast.)

Well, let's see.....
They called me a couple of times to verify my order and to ask me what color I wanted the personalization thread to be, as well as did I want the personalization to be in katakana or Roman, and they shipped it to me that day. It took less than a week to get here, even with standard shipping through DHL. I have been extremely satisifed with E-Bogu.
I have the Top-Quality 2mm machine-stitched bogu, which is a bit more expensive than what you're considering. I don't believe there is anything wrong with purchasing the set you're looking at, so IMNSHO, I think E-bogu's stuff is really well made.
I have not had a problem with any of their equipment, even though I get some hard use out of it (all of my dojo mates strike pretty hard, including the newbies), it holds together quite well, and it fits well.
They will ask you for your measurements, and any additional information you can give them will make it a much more comfortable fit. Since I kind of stretched the truth about my waist size, they gave me a do that's a little snug, but not tight, and as I lose weight (I am! I am!), it'll fit a little looser.
One other thing....if your dojo is a member of the E-bogu Dojo Discount Plan (EDDP), you get a special member's price, which is usually lower than the regular price. The forms are downloadable on the E-bogu website, just look for "EDDP" in the left hand menu.

I bought my bogu (4/2 mm, same as what you are asking) from E-bogu, and satisfied with what I got. For some reasons, I had to exchange the kote, and I didn't have to pay for the shipping when they send it back to me( I paid for shipping when I sent back to them, however) The most important is that they are very responsive, and saved me a lot of times and works. If you have any problem with their products, they are willing to help. They are really appreciated.
The bogu quality is good, even though this is my first bogu. I would say compare to the price and the expectation of bogu, this one worths it. It feels good and easy to take care of. You could find some others alternatives from internet, but most of them will charge you a lot on shipping.

I have a 2mm set from ebogu and am very happy with it as well. They will also assist you in converting your name to Katakana if you want customized name stitching. They will also accept an image file of kanji or katakana via email.
I definitely recommend giving them your Dojo info to get additional discount. Also if you are able to visit their warehouse, it would be worth buying it right there. The last time I was there they give me a larger discount than the dojo discount, plus they didn't charge me tax.

I have bought nearly all of my equipment from e-bogu, including a 2mm machine stitch bogu set. I also bought an entry level set for one of my sons. Their service is great and so is the quality of their merchandise. Our dojo has enrolled in the EDDP program. They are great to work with and have always resonded promptly to any inquiry I have made.

I bought their 3mm top quality 3 years ago. Some of the decorations have started to look worn and the kote needs to be changed. I'm satisfied with it so far. One thing I really love with it is the smell of smoke deerleather, it far better then the smell my kote has now.

I have the new Superlight Bogu. I've been using it for about 5 months now and all i can say is, that it's great. Good quality materials, good workmanship and most importantly nice fit. This is ofcourse all relative to it's price, but then all bogu is. The service was also great, I live in the UK and it got here in about 3 days and I payed almost no tax on it.

Their product is really good but their service, at least for me, was disappointing after hearing what others had to say. I had some questions and sent them an email and didn't get a reply until two weeks later in which the email was totally unrelated to what I had asked them. I bought bogu from them anyway because of their reputation here and from my club. I believe it was a good choice, just hoped that I had better service on my next purchase.

Alan, that is something that Taro needs to know. If his employees are not giving you satisfactory service, then he can't correct the situation if he doesn't know. I am truly sorry that your experience with E-bogu was less than perfect, and I'm sure it's the exception, since I've never had a problem with E-bogu's support. Please log back into E-bogu's website and give them some feedback, I'm sure Taro will make every effort to correct the situation, including sending you an apology.

If it happens again, I'll send a complaint of some sort. Like you said it could be the only one time.

Yeah...Sorry to say, Alan, but it seems you have a pretty unique case. My bogu was delivered fairly quickly and everything has a nice and snug fit. So don't give up on them after that...especially after hearing what all of us have to say about it. So Flylkorean, I believe that most of us that have replied are all ones who will say that yes--it's worth it.

They have a free number that you can call. It is very helpful and your questions are answered right away.

Alan, it must be some misunstanding in communication, because they replied my e-mail(s) very quickly,(I was very annoying and keep send them e-mails to confirm things again and again). They did even call me proactively, it really suprised me. That is why I still make my purchase in e-bogu, eventhough some items they have are a little bit more expensive than others on-line stores.
What I would say is that you had a very unusual experience with e-bogu, and you are right, you should give them another chance to show you how good is their service.

I've had my current set of bogu for a couple of years and on the whole have been very happy with little to no visable wear and tear - Although I love my kote (excellent padding and shock absorbsion), they have worn a little quicker than I would have liked. I may be wrong but I think I've read a few people say similar things in previous KW threads regarding e-bogu's kote.
In short, I've had very good expieriences with e-bogu and would be happy to purchase from them again, although I might be inclined to buy without kote and buy them from someone else.

I got the top quality 3mm bogu combination package and zekken and couldn't be more pleased.
Everything from the easy to use website, service, shipping time, quality of goods when I got them, etc. was fantastic.
Way to go E-Bogu!
Cheers,
Matt.

Myself and quite a few of my dojo members own bogu from e-bogu. I personally am very happy with it. It's an excellent buy.

I had the same thing happened to me. They have yet to reply my email and it has already been 2-3 weeks.

I have the 4/2mm set from Ebogu - I went straight to the warehouse to pick it up. The padding on the kote and men are thinner and stiffer compared to eguchi's A4 which a lot of my dojomates have. There's quite a bit of sting from hard hitters. Might need to get some pads.
I like bogubag.com after having purchased some stuff from them and would definitely consider getting Koei bogu if I had the chance to rebuy bogu.
I went with ebogu cuz they are close by and didn't have to deal with shipping.
Good luck with your purchase.

I have the 2mm set, I am VERY satisfied with the quality, service, and concern for customer satisfaction that e-bogu has shown. Their shinai are also top quality!

I just bought the 4/2mm set yesterday and it already arrived today:)
They were also very fast to answer my e-mail. there's nothing bad yet that I can say about e-bogu yet.
I wish I bought my keikogi there. I bought my hakama and keikogi at kendoshop.com and my hakama is perfect but my keikogi is way too long. they didn't even ask for any measurements for it. just for the hakama. oh well...
Today it's just a happy day:)

I have e-bogu also through the club. My first Men was too big and was replaced easily enough. The rest has been holding up good so far. (7 month 6 hrs a week)
My email questions on maitenence were answered quickly also and service has been great.
They should hire a clown or something for the web cam though :)

I made the call to E-bogu.
They pick up,
"Hi im calling from Australia about getting some bogu shipped...."
The rep asked me to hold a moment.
Then a Kiwi answers the phone
"Ebogu Jeremy speeking."
I reply
"Gday anzac your a long way from home"
Personalized service Awesome!!!!!
I dont think I would buy from any other vendor. They exeeded my expectaions with the quality of the bogu and the service. I got my bogu shipped to Australia in less than a week.
Keep up the good work E-bogu.
