I was watching the news and they are talking about two Japanese soldiers found in the Phillipines. They had been stationed on Mindao Island and were still fightinging World War II. The gentlemen in question were both in their 80's, and there are now historians saying there may be more there. It is amazing they are still fighting more than 60 years after the war moved on past the Philippines.

The really amazing thing is that on an island somewhere in the Pacific there is a whole platoon of Japanese soldiers who are starting to suspect that the war ended ages ago.

Actually, if you read the reports, these two had deserted from their unit and were afraid of facing court martial if they returned to Japan.

Acutally its not the first time this happen. They've found some Japanese soldier before in the mountains and thought that the war WWII was still going on.

The Emperor is dead! Long live the Emperor!
In my darker hours I wonder if the war ever really ended for Japan.

If this fantastic story is true, how scared must these guys have been of the military regime?

The most amazing true story is a well kept secret and it concerns a British anti aircraft unit stationed in the Outer Hebrides (islands off Scotland) who had been forgotten about due to an administrative error after the war. Not only had they not been informed about the war ending, they had been left stranded there when the order to send a boat to collect them was lost. Since their radio was inoperable there was nothing they could do but carry on performing their duty. It was obvious at least by the late 1950's that something was wrong when commercial airliners started to mysteriously disappear in the region. Apparantly this gun unit had difficulty identifying the new markings on the side of these strange jet aircraft.

This whole incident came to an end in the 1960's when the British government got to the bottom of the matter and managed to hush the whole thing up. This was only discovered in the 1970's by an intrepid journalist called Bill Tush of a little known Hebridean newspaper called the Daily Shraddable.

Anyone else got any more fascinating "war not ended" stories?

Oh I am sorry , Didn't you read the history of Kendo article before ? or the history of Bogu on KW before ?
Evil Japanese Miltarism used Kendo as their tool to pump out diablos .
Kendo was not originially developed for the purpose of their military regime.
