Hi there,
i was wondering who knew about this book :
NAGINATA: The Definitive Guide by Alex BENNETT
that can be bought from kendo-world in the publications.
how is this book ?
I've fenced for two years and started kendo this year, and i've always been interested in naginata (from childhood video games *grins*). Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much naginata in canada (no federations?), let alone in quebec.
I'm looking for a book with more technique than history, but a book with both sure would be nice. I would like it to have pictures/drawing showing proper techniques and a listing of different waza (if the terms apply for naginata too...sorry for my ignorance), etc...
thanks for your time,
project

Hello,
i never had this book but for what you search (book with techniques), i'm using "sport V course, Naginata" edited by the japanese federation and also translated by A. Bennett. There are many pictures and a good explanation. To me, it's a good reference book..

I have just talked to Hamish. Here is the situation as it stands now. The money was wired through to the printers yesterday. It should be confirmed by tomorrow. As soon as the payment is confirmed, the books will be moved down the road from the printers to our dispatch company in Singapore. We will then be able to start taking orders. Hamish has PROMISED that all the order info etc will be posted on the HP by Sunday!
BTW, speaking from experience, if you want the book quickly (and don't mind paying a little extra for postage) I suggest you get it FEDEXed. Airmail from Singapore seems to take anything up to a month (sometimes even more!!). As for seamail...

Alex,
Thank you for mentioning the Rhythmical Naginata of Belgium on the Pink Panther theme, but if you allow me to correct you, this happened in 1995 at the 1st World Championship in Tokyo.... here is the link:

You're right! Sorry about that. I'll fix it when we reprint.
BTW I will only be taking a few copies to Prague (one for each federation leader). I will take bulk orders there for federations. See you soon. :)

Okay, so I ordered the book the week of the 19th in July. That makes it 7 weeks. It still hasn't arrived. Should I be worried?
Alex
4th September 2005, 11:21 PM
did you get it sent by airmail or seamail? Even with airmail it can possibly take up to 8 weeks! Send a mail to editor@kendo-world.com and we will look into it straight away. It may mean that we send you a new book.
Cheers
