hey guys and girls
what is your favorite video game??
Mine would be final fantasy 6 :D I can play that game over and over. Years after its release, always a shock to see how good it is.
I guess my favorite type of games would be console RPG.
I played most of the classic like almost everyone.
I like sports game too, but after a while I find them boring.
Last game I finished was Final Fantasy X. I think it was a good game but the dialoge sometimes were kinda stupid.
Nothing to really start an interesting thread ...but who knows

I like strategy games. Still have yet to find a true strategy game that doesn't box you into a limit amount of useable strategies, but I like them.
Really liked Ogre Battle for SNES. Final Fantasy Tactics was cool too.
Off topic, but anyone play Warhammer 40K? Great strategy game. Table top miniatures.

All I can say is...
CAPCOM VS. SNK 2 : EO !!!!!!
WOW!
Its a fighting game with 46 characters. Al the people from Street Fighter, and people from Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, etc.
The thing is..its ONLINE. Thats right, you can play against people over the internet via Xbox Live. Not only that, but Xbox live comes with a microphone, so you can fight AND talk smack as well.
Woohoo!

Favorite video game? Well...that's a tough one and depends on the mood. I play a lot of Mechwarrior 4 (online). As far as strategy I play Shogun: Total War (Warlord Edition). I haven't played Medieval: Total War but I heard it fixed a lot of the problems with Shogun... but I'm happy with Shogun and would recommend it to strategists. With any computer game there are limitations but the total war series accounts for many factors including, terrain (attacking uphill or downhill, forests, control bridges, etc.), how far you've marched your troops, weather affects your archers, troop morale (based both on the experience of your General and how the battle is going), etc.

I have tried the demo to Medieval Total War. It is really interesting. I would say that the atmosphere is completely different from Shogun Total War, but the game play allows for a different feel. Castles have actual significance now in battle because you have to lay seige to them. Makes it really interesting. I like the atmosphere to Shogun better, but Medieval has certain battle elements that I like better.

Phorest: Ahhhh, a fellow street fighter die hard i see. I love that game, although the Dreamcast has the best version of it IMO.
I love SF games: alpha 2, alpha 3, SF3: 3rd Strike, Capcom vs SNK 2. All great!
Favorite Chars: Vega (Balrog in Japan), Benimaru, Charlie, Vice, Geese, Gen, Urien.
Fave Team in CAPvsSNK 2: Vega, Benimaru, Vice
Myth 2 is my favorite Strategy game by far.
My all time favorite game would have to be Thief: Gold on PC. Excellent! Favorite level: Return to Cathedral. Best played in the dark with the volume turned up. I guarantee the hair on the back of your neck will stand up. spooky.

Mermanoid. It's an underwater RPG, pretty weird. The graphics are awful, the story is asinine, but the conceptualization is brilliant. For a game of it's time, the controls are incredibly responsive, and sensible.
Alice in Cyberland was pretty good too, but purely for the cheese factor.
Other than that, the standard ff7, Legend of Zelda, Legend of Dragoon and Tactics Ogre.

do you guys prefer Megaman or Megaman X?
I love megaman X because it is fast paced compare to the orginal megaman
but i like the original because it's so old school and games are usualy a bit tougher. Plus Doctor Willy has way more style than Sigma.
I dont like Zero, he is too weak (exept in MMX4)!!!! He can only die once when megaman can die 1000000000000 of time during the game.
oh and what megaman game is the hardest you find? I was playing Megaman and Forte the other day on my computer...I find that game tough!!

Nodachi, Have you ever played Brigandine? It's a fantasy strategy game, with 6 or 7 playable sides, and a multi-player option. It's rather difficult. Not having devoted much time to it, I can't give an indepth review (not much time nowadays for gaming), but I'd recommend it if you play Japanese-only games.
As for Princess Maker, it is not a dating sim, it's a child rearing sim featuring abnormally large cleavage in young girls. It's not an overly popular genre, in that there aren't as many games in it as dating sims, but there's an Evangelion game where you can be Rei's 'keeper', and apparently there's a similar one coming out for Auska as well. I'm a fan of 'Tokimeki Memorial: Girl's Side', the only real dating sim for girls. (Most "girls'" dating sim games are about pairing up homosexual men, but that can be pretty fun too.)
If it's an consolation, FFX's dialogues were equally stupid in Japanese, in many places. How many times did I wish for a 'Slap Tidus in the face' or a 'duct tape Yuna's mouth' command? Too many.
Anyone played Rez?

*sigh*
Okay at least someone mentioned Zelda.
That´s one of the greatest saga´s ever, though I´ve never played Majora´s Mask and the Cube one... but all the others.
Metroid, of course. Almost as much ambience as Zelda, *almost*.
Jedi Knight 2 was kinda nice but a bit too simple.
Can´t stand running around and swinging lightsabers and call
this swordfighting... well....
Nintendo?... Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were nice.
Also Super Smash Brothers (Meele) is great. All the wonderful
characters... and such a simple but effective control.
Wish someone would have really beaten me.
Moment.. DATING SIMS? Did I miss something important in the last
years that I didn´t play any actual game?
Honestly... I have no game on this PC... my Nintendo was sold
for the Bougu. I play only when I am at friends and that´s seldom.
What kind of poor games is that dating simulation thingy then?
My god... go out and do it for real. (This shouldn´t be against somebody in particular... it´s just..... weird... to date... virtually.)
Uhm.. well.. do what you like.
Fortunately no one mentioned Counter-Strike.
Hr... is this really a CS free area? Am I in heaven??? AM I?
KhawMengLee

CS? hehehe...its CS heaven here....cybercafe's with about 60 cpu's linked up so its runs about 32 people per game....total carnage...

No, not Resident Evil. It is almost insulting that you would think I'd play such a silly game! Rez is the game's name, and it's a great one.
For mindless violence, I suggest Vampire Night, probably never to be available at an arcade near you. It isn't bloody, it just has limited appeal.
What about 'typing of the dead'? Is that a pathetic game or what?

ps - I do not play counterstrike.

The ones that were originally the Japanese FF4 and 6? You could try looking around for a translated rom of FF4, it was pretty... interesting. 5 wasn't too bad either, I think Square re-released it as something, but can't remember offhand.
And my own current fav, Morrowind, is a good RPG for the PC. Single-player only, though, but great scope for exploration.

REZ is a GREAT GAME! fans are so few and far between it seems. Have you ever seen the add-on accessory for it? The vibrator pack thing or whatever its called? And yes, for all you young testosterone charged males out there its for exactly what you're thinking. ;)
You might want to try "frequency" or "amplitude" if you like REZ. And of course there's always a special place in my heart for Dance Dance Revolution.

Have to agree there, Tetris is bloody brilliant. It's so simple, but has so many variations. Any attempts to improve the game have just cluttered it up (3 d tetris, etc). The simplest games are sometimes the best.

Ahhh, tetris. One of my favorites. Who knew lightning could strike twice?
My favorite versions of Tetris is "Tetris DX" for Gameboy Colour and "The Next Tetris" on N64. (The ONLY game i like on 64 but thats another topic)
Best Tetris DX line count: 950. After that i had to stop...my eyes were burning and i couldn't see anymore.

Yes, the great violence of Tetris, all those lones being obliterated. O the tragedy! The bloodshed and torment! I'm a great fan of Civilizations II, wasn't so fond of III, however. Rez isn't violent either.
However, I do go for a double round of gun games (that's a gun in each hand, but my technique is shoddy).

Yeah, I actually made it to LA, but didn't go to any dojos :( The drive was killer, 17 hours to San Francisco, one night stopover, then five more hours to LA. I was wiped out for the next day or two, plus I had some bad Chinese food at a friend's place when I got down and was sick for the next 24 hours after that.
Just ended up seeing the Getty museum and hanging with my friends at UCLA mostly, a good time but not very exciting. However, I'll probably come down again this summer so I'll try and make more of an effort next time. Think I'll be down for three or four weeks.
Oh man, USA border guards are brutal though, totally grilled me and my friend: where are you going? what are you doing? We had like ten minutes of questions, I thought they were going to turn us back.

My god... go out and do it for real. [/B]
The ultimate level of dating sim involves strategical time management. Besides dating, you need to spare time getting high marks at school and earning cash doing part-time jobs.
You get to collect CG/picture of each special event.
It's the ability to get 5 girls to say "I love you" at the end of the game WITH ONE SAVEFILE that makes the challange. BTW that also means you have to maintain your relationship with the others to an above-average level. Usually there are 12 girls in a game that you can set target on.
Now, can you do that in real life? :D :D :D
The most popular ones that ended up in Anime are,
Tokimeki Memorial
Sentimental Graffitti
Doukyusei (H)
-------------------
Princess Maker (1, 2 & 3) is more focused on "character growing" and is closer to the Sims, with more diary-scheduling.
It started off as there's a little girl that you, as a supervisor/father, have to take care of in a few years' time of game play. Her character is based upon a set of datas (eg. intellegence, health, courage, charisma, trust etc.) which can be built, by talking, attending classes, working, etc. To cheat you can buy her gifts. (The way I cheat is to physically change the numbers with an external program :p)
The goal is the same. You collect the endings (40-60 usually) and CGs. So to save time you keep one save file that has changable datas... So that it can be adjusted to suit a number of endings. For instance, if your daughter work in one place more than 25 times, she'll automatically ended up working there at the end (and not being a princess). So what you can do is to schedule her to work for a number of places for 24 times, and at the end of the last month you save the file. Then load the file and make her work again in, say, a bar, to make her a bar maid at the end.
There are certainly more interesting endings, to name a few:
The General --when she kill a lot of monsters in the RPG section of the game, and win in the "combat festival" every time
The King --when she's smart and have a high level of etiquette, courage, leadership, charismas (but if too high she'll be the Queen)
The Royal Consultant --when her intelligent level "exploded" in the charts...
The Mistress --Really high charismas, low of ethical sense, not very smart, but a considerable level of solicitous
The Hooker --Same as above without the solicious
The Queen of S&M :D --Same as above with a high level of stress
------------
Goal of the game is rather getting to a range of endings, and has a little less to do with the gameplay, because it's mainly text-based (or selection-click-confirm based so to speak).

Okay. Seems to be a complex game, though it wouldn't be one for me.
Thanks for the explanation.
I guess the reason why I can't understand it is because I never dated anyone. :-/
I'm not one for dating actually.
