Can I take a moment to remind people that, although this is the "General Discussion" forum where any topic may be discussed, the same forum rules as in the other forums including "Treat your fellow Forums members with respect" still applies?

With certain boards and members in mind (no names mentioned), I would like to remind people also of the rules that you all read and agreed with when you decided to join.

"By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws."

And also from the rules post in the FAQ

"There are often some volatile subjects discussed here, but please keep things civil and do not resort to personal attacks and/or inappropriate language, as we may be forced to ban you from the board"

I know that there are some "controversial" subjects that are currently being discussed, but, please do approach your discussions with a modicum of civility, tact, and diplomacy as well as a healthy dollop of respect.

Actually this is the "Flames" forum, but I agree with what you said.

FLame forum means the topic can be exploseive, but it doesn't mean that we need to forget manners.

I really can't believe it when people complain about the flames sections in forums. It's stated right in the description that it's basically anything goes (except threats of violence, of course). No one is forcing anyone to read the flames. It's like a person drinking spoiled milk while saying "This milk is bad! Someone should do something about it! Let's ban it!" and continuing to drink. Just don't read it. I, personally, like to read and sometimes contribute to flames. It's fun for me. If it's not fun for someone else, they shouldn't be reading them.

Yes, I agree but some times we lose track of ourselves.

Better in the Flames forum than somewhere else. I personally agree with Hank. It's not as though the KWF start smack dab in the middle of a Flames thread, so if you think you'll be potentially insulted by reading some of it...don't do it. Simple as that. I'm actually suprised that a lot of the grudges from the Flames section don't leak into the other sections.

Well, we all need somewhere to cut loose and let of some steam every once in a while. Like Andou, I'm surprised none of it appears to have spilled over into the other sections. Guess we can credit ourselves with still being able to be mindful of others outside of this forum.

Take a look at the Who should We condemn behind The London Bombing? and you will see what my problem is.I don't see a problem with that thread. Not reading it would be the first option. Or join the IIRS. Or just take his posts with a grain of salt as I do. IR just trolls here (in the flames section) - if people stopped feeding him he'd eventually just end up just posting to himself.

Hank.

probably the first option. the latter is too radically generalized.
