Just a quick message to anyone who is intersted in joining or has not heard of the "Do Shin Ken Yu Kai Individual Shiai League".
"Following the successful trial of the monthly shiai night, we are pleased to confirm that the event will go ahead fully in 2003. The first shiai geiko will start at approximately 8.00p.m. on Friday 7th of March and then on the last Friday of March, April, May, August, September, October and finishing on Friday the 28th of November. Please note that there will be a break for June and July.
The aim of the league is to promote skillful fencing in a competitive but friendly and enjoyable atmosphere, maintaining the spirit of
Do Shin Ken Yu Kai Kendo. Also it will offer an opportunity for individuals to begin or add to their refereeing experience.
The matches themselves will be three minute sanbon shobu with no Encho. There will be one referee per match and the referees' word will be final. The league is open to all members of the BKA who have a reasonable grasp of the basic skills of Kendo, we will be very pleased to see people from other dojo if they would like to come along! Points will be awarded on the basis of three points for a win, one point for a draw and nothing for a loss. A tally will also be kept of cuts for and against in case of a tie for position. Please be aware that any inappropriate physical contact will be discouraged and may result in disqualification!!
The league table will be updated throughout the year and the eventual winner will receive a trophy and prize donated by Japan Promotions. Participation in the league is free of charge apart from the nightly dojo fee. All league nights will end with a general practice."
All are welcome and we would be pleased to see anyone who would like to come along for a fun night of shiai.
If anyone one has any questions or would like information on how to find us. Please feel free to PM me or go to the Do Shin Ken Yu Kai website
