Don't break the blisters. If necessary use sports tape on your feet. Eventually after about 3 cycles of blisters/healing a callous will form. I'm in it all of 4 months and I am enjoying the challenge. Everything is hard, takes practice, and makes me humble. If I had one piece of advice, newbie to newbie - get the footwork down pat. I still can't do the basic slide step - so I practice, practice and practice. It may kill me, but I won't quit.

I FINALLY attended my first class, after months of juggling schedules and so on, earlier tonight. My feet got pretty messed up, but I remember that from years ago when I started Kendo, then unfortunately had to give it up. Almost a decade later, my feet look like newbie feet again and it hurts like hell! One fellow told me to make sure I keep my feet dry while they heal as much as possible, ie: going barefoot at home and not keeping the cuts and blisters under non-breathable bandaids. He suggested gauze if I needed to bandage with something, it breathes better than those plastic bandaids.

Yep, legs are sore too... but I'm going back for more and more and more. It's great to be back. Don't let these teething pains discourage you!
