My vote's for Sin City. Kept very close to the comic book and it it was shot very well. Elijah Wood looked so freaky!!

I quite like Sin City. It's nice to see how they realize Miller's style, but the movie itself has no content if you don't read the comic book...
For some oldies, although I haven't seen it in ages - Dick Tracy is one of my fav.

Spiderman. It kept the look, feel and character content of the original story line. Nice work there.
And Hell-boy. Although I didnt really read the comics, Ive heard that they kept it true to form. But I really enjoyed the film alot.

I also vote for Spider-Man. Or perhaps X-men, even though they made Cyclops a sissy.
(That reminds me of that old joke, I think it was a Larson! cartoon, when you see a man in a bar, and everybody around him is knocked out cold, and the text says: no one ever again called S:t Francis a sissy. Off topic, but funny as hell.)

Thank god they took away his yellow underwear, otherwise it could be worse, lol :D I'm sure the actor refused to wear them that's why they came up with all the new uniforms, hehehe I'm also a cyclops fan here :) OPTIC BLASTTTTTT! I used to be really good at X-Men vs Street Fighters :)

I havn't seen all of them, but I would say that Spiderman, X-Men, and perhaps The Fantastic Four are my favorites. And well.. Blade is based off of a comic, too, so it's in there.

Bottom of the list would be League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - I had such high hopes for this film but it was the worse adaptation I've ever seen.
Batman Begins was solid and very close to Miller's Batman: Year One.

The best comic book to movie adaptations I have seen are Blade, and sincity. Sincity works better as a comic, blade was just a lot of fun. The hellboy film was degrading to the series in my opinion (being a huge fan of mignola's work), hellboy was portrayed as a dumb, boyish, out of control youth who wasn't likable or interesting which is just totally contrary to the spirit of the character. It was on par with the Constantine movie, inspired by hellblazer but not a hellblazer film, to me it is the same with hellboy. I am some what of a pureist.

I agree, Blade series are actually pretty good. I personally think it's somewhat even better than the original Blade as I remember one day he showed up in one of the Saturday morning cartoon shows long time ago. Then somehow whenever I see Blade, that reminds me of Ghost Rider, and they should make a movie of Ghost Rider. He's such a kewl character... talking about guys on fire, I think he's kewler than Johnny Storm...

I thought Blade 1, that was really good, Blade 2 and 3 were just disappointing. Hellboy i thought was a really kool movies apart from the ending, and Ron Pearlman played a really good part as Hellboy.

But it's just a tease poster, thought GR looks sooooo good in it! Now I remember why I connect Blade with him, they both wear leather jackets and drive motocycles. Of course GR's bike's kewler, heheheh

The movie or the comic books? The movies, in my opinion, were entertaining but corny. The comic book was entertaining without cornyness.

Being a comic book fan myself, I guess you first have to define what it means to be a "good comic book movie". Is it a movie that stays close to the source material or is it just a good movie that happens to be based on a comic book.
In terms of staying close to the source material and being good, I have to say either The Crow or Sin City. In terms of just kicking ass as a movie, I would have to say Batman Begins...hands...down.
Spider-man is my favourite comic, so it really does pain me to say that it does not make my "Best comic book movie of all time" list, although I did still enjoy both Spidey films.

The comic books were indeed corny in many aspects. If you didn't notice the cornyness, you weren't looking close enough.

It's true that the Spidey comics did have a certain level of camp to them depending on the writers. I think the movies definately had camp, but I know that's not why I was dissappointed with them.

well i know why i was dissapointed. green goblin was a wimp with a whiny voice. he was just some crazy rich guy flyin' around with those pumpkin bombs. how lame is that?
i've always wondered but if spider man has spider powers, can he drink someones blood? wouldnt a blood drinking spider be a cooler villian than that looser green goblin?
i did love how he shut down mary jane at the end. i didnt like her. she'd probably dump him in a few weeks any way.
and if i can remember correctly, wasnt he wearing a sweater vest?
absolut genius.

Mary Jane from Spiderman, there was just something about her, i felt compelled to jump side kick her, her acting just got on my nerves, The Green Goblin (Cringe) lol, yeh i must agree Batman was very good, and even though people slate Batman and Robin and Batman Returns but i liked them.

Phil-co, let me first say that I did enjoy both Spider-man movies very much. But as Spider-man fan for the majority of my life the movie strayed from the comics too much.
First and foremost, I hate organic web shooters and I hate them even more now that they've added them to the comic books. I like that Sam Raimi showed that Peter was an unpopular teenager, but I think he played that angle too much. You're supposed to see another side of peter when he puts on his costume because he is free from his Parker persona. He is supposed to be a wise-cracking smart ass when in the mask.
I also dislike the fact that they played Spider-man as a love story. While Spidey's love life is important, it shouldn't be the main thing. I wished they'd focused more on his relationship with his uncle Ben and aunt May. I think they should have started with Gwen Stacey and had her die at the bridge scene, instead of introducing MJ as the love interest right away and (in my eyes) cheapening the bridge scene. It felt a lot like the ultimate spider-man universe as opposed to the 616 universe.
Lastly, the villains. I can't begin to tell you how much I hate the goblin costume, and the fight scenes. I liked how GG was portrayed, just not how he looked. I really didn't like that Doc Ock was the product of crazy AI tentacles. He's supposed one of Spider-man's most sadistic and smartest villains on par with Green Goblin, not a tragic hero.
Phew...that was a lot to say. So, in conclusion, I still give both movies thumbs up, but the fanboy part of me still cries at night.

Well, I read comic book as a kid. I saw the movies as an . So, as a kid, the Spiderman comic book wasn't corny. Kind of like Mark Hammill's acting, I thought he was great in the first Star Wars movie. Upon watching it years later, I thought he was awful.

Just my opinion, but I'd go with the first Crow hands down. After all these years I still find the story/dialogue/action emotionally moving. Plus the soundtrack just plain ROCKED!!!!
