Pleasant memories.Indeed. It is the envy of the civilized world. I plan to sell some soon and corner the RBSO market.

My friend, I hereby claim that if you do that, I will buy from your store despite the fact we live in entirely different countries!
Today, RBSO market, tommorow, the world!!!

Yeah, unless your sensei for whatever reason has an objection to you buying your own bokken, it's fine, especially if you've started kata.

Buy one. You will be doing kata all the time in kendo.
If you are still scoping out if kendo is for you, just borrow.

You can make one? Wow. .
Or if you have a very very good friend who is highly skilled with a saw and sand paper and have a good idea/interest in japanese you could ask them very nicely to make you a bokken based on a blade from his collection.
ohhhh my bokken is so pretty ;)

I kinda fell out of tone last year on a seminar having to practice kata with my shinai (all the dojo bokken where already lend out to other attendees) so I bought one the day after the seminar :ko:

be sure you make it in 3 pieces so you can use it for self defense! *wink*
i wish i could make one in woodshop but you know how school policy is around weapons. got in enough trouble with the boomerang anyway...

Hmmm...When I have the time to try this I might. I think that I'd probably treasure it if I can successfully make one. Kind of like the saying that you'd appreciate something more if you work for it.
