Yay! I got my AS Level results today! I got:
C in Performing Arts and Theatre Studies
C in General Studies.
I thought that they were really good, saying that I wasn't even in the country for the first half of the year (I was living in Canada). I got an A in my Drama Practical though! (the performance!)
And to make it better, I have arranged to take my entry exam for the RAF! I will sit it on the 1st September!! What a brilliant day!
Has anyone else recieved their A Level Results? How did you do?

im taking it this is some kind of upper level education result? your grades sound good basing them off an american standard, so congrats.
Do you have a reference based on the american grade school system for what these are?

Erm, i'm not too sure, I never understood how the American School System worked...
Well, A Levels are the qualifications that you can choose to do from ages 16-18yrs. After them you can go to Uni. AS Levels are the first year of the two years that you study them...
The grades are A*= the best, A, B, C, D , E, F and then U= Ungraded. Average for A Levels is about D or E.
Helpful? I don't expect it to be...

A-level is equivalent to America's SAT system I believe. I use the term "euivalent" loosely of course.

Nope, A levels are MUCH tougher than SAT's. Think SAT II's (since they're subject specific) but much more intensive. Unlike the American education system where everyone can go to college and the weeding out begins during college and not everyone makes it, educational systems that utilize A and O level exams begin the weeding BEFORE college and everybody graduates. I'm fairly sure that's how it works. What I am sure about though is that most high school students in the states would fail A levels.

For my GCSE Drama I got an A. I did really well in GCSE, not as well as I should have, I was aimed at all A's, but then I kinda went off te rails at school... didn't show up for lessons, didn't do anything in class... you know. But I still managed 2 A's, 4 B's, C, D and F...
I love acting! Its class act. Have been studying it since GCSE... well pobalby before GCSE too...
As for mocks... don't worry. They are only practises. I wouldn't worry about them. Just revise and try yout best!

Think of it this way: GCSEs are OWLs and A-levels are NEWTs

ah, thats actualy a good way to explain it. There is no equivilant to that in the american education system...... you graduate highschool, then either go to college, a technical school, or get on the job training....

Actually JK Rowkling made OWLs and NEWTs as exact parallels to how they are. Apparently the standards have lowered significantly since the days of yore (which would explain me getting an A in First Language English when it is my second language) and we called GCSEs General Certificate for Sitting an Exam.
