Because we are having alot of tests and projects right now, my school have stopped Kendo training for a month. But I do not want to go out of shape or lose my form.
Might any of you have any advice for me while I train and practice at home?

Hello there,
How's life in Singapore? Busy and crowded as ever? It's a shame that there is no Kendo for a month. But if you don't want to lose the feeling of the shinai then just practice suburi until it becomes all natural. If you are going to practice so waza and you're not comfortable with it, there's the possibility that you can pick up bad habits. Bad habits are harder to lose than picking up proper technique. So just stick to suburi and haya suburi the things you do for warming up with your shinai.
Say hello to the rest of the club.

Ah yes, Haya Suburi. A few times I accidently hit the shinai on my own head...
Yeah, Singapore is as busy and as crowded as ever. I don't think we learnt 'So Waza' yet, you been to Singapore before?

Sorry, sorry, I just meant waza skip the "so" please. Just suburi and haya suburi.
I had the distinct honor to visit the Kendo Dojo's of Singapore while I was there last year. I was very pleased with the level of Kendo and the zest at the practice even at those tropical temperatures at the Japanese School, NUS and the Nanyang. I thought I was going to die but luckily I could endure it to the end. I loved having supper in the outdoors after practice. I also watched the end of the year tournament and the level was very good just as the turnout of people. Here in Holland they are already happy if 20 people show up sometimes, so you guys have a good thing going there. Keep it up. Say hello to Dax and Suresh and the others from me.
Best regards,
Alphons

Dont train waza if you cant get it corrected in the same week, but otherwise, train the muscles. I for one, train at home, but i dont learn waza on my own, only repeat what i have already learnt.

Hi,
You should try a thread search. There are several threads on the how to & on the pros and cons of training at home. You will also find lots of advice on Xtraining and such.
Have fun,
Mark
The only training I've done at home is all the cuts (men, kote, and doh) just like you would do during the warmup, a few fumikomiashi, and haya-suburi.

To Mr Gingras: Ah yes, sincere apologies, thanks! I'll do just that.
To Mr Alphons: Alright, I'll send your regards to 'em, Alphons, right? I don't know who is Dax, but I do know who is Suresh. I'm in Nanyang so currently the school is having exams and projects...*gasp* We're having a Kendo camp next month, we'll be learning Kata (spelling?)

Hiya YangJin,
Lucky for the Kendo camp. Now you can make up for the lost time which you are now using just by doing suburi right?
Dax is Dax Quah and his Dojo is NUS and I thought he was famous all around in Kendo World Singapore. He also practices at the Japanese School.
Keep up the good work,
Alphons
