The ffvii movie is a continuation. To be honest, all they have to do is show me a few sweeping midgar panoramic shots and some of the old music and I'd give it 5/5... and shed one little tear, they don't make nostalgia like they used to.

It is brilliant. If you're a fan of FF7 you will love this movie. It's like.. uh, seeing old friends again. I don't want to spoil it, but the fight scenes are some of the best I've seen, and there are (of course) lots of references to the game. Seeing Tifa again was nice... She was my favourite character in the game :)

Nobou Uematsu did the music for this, and there is a lot of re-working of the old themes... you'll recognise a lot of it!

As FF7 is my favourite game ever, I'll give it 10/10. Easy. It's a movie for the fans, no doubt, but seeing Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Marlene, Red, Cid, Yuffie, Vincent, etc etc again is just so awesome.

Cloud turned out pretty weird. I just don't think guys with black eyebrows and blonde hair go together... I liked Cloud even though Cloud was a bit pixelated back in FF7 which you can almost see all the polygons. But the new design looks very unattractive. But Sephiroth is awesome, how come they always make the bad guys look kewler than the good guys? But of course Sephiroth is most bad ass bad character, so I'm kewl with that, hehe :)

I can't seem to get a good dvd image so I started the video on my laptop. I watched the beginning, redxii running with his baby redxii's up the cliff and then a great big nostalgic musical flourish with a great big view of a forested out Midgar. My face melted.

Oh man oh man oh man!!! No game since ffvii has moved me as much. I cannot wait to see this properly!

Well, FF7 is one of my faves but not the best IMHO. FF6 i think was the best. Story line, Graphics (for an SFC), playability, etc. FF2(US) is a close second. I believe that was FF4 in JP? I'm playing FF5(JP) on my comp at home. hehe. Its ok so far.

Old school pixelated RPG :p The story and the music are the best. The graphic, well it's old school :)

Get a SFC emulator, D/L the game and play it. Other than that, its 2-D graphics, 16bit music, and a WHOLE LOTTA FUN!

saw 3 diff. japanese previews and it looks good. i hate 5...come on the guys name is BUTTS!!!!!! i loved tactics, 6 had some great music, 7 had crappy music, 8 was blah, never played 9, 10 was way too simple. 4 is my fav.

The story was definately lacking though. While they definately kept the whole sephiroth, jenova, cells, aeris thing goin, they almost completely forgot about the other characters backgrounds.

Was happy to see the turks (who are just shinra yakuza) back in action. What I REALLY liked about it was that they got all of the mannerisms down just like they were in the original game, like Reno tapping his baton on his shoulder and all of Tifa's moves.

Some parts of Advent Children are just too good. They really have fun with the music. I especially like the piano rendition of a theme where yazoo has a fist fight with one of the main characters close to the beginning of the film.

I couldn't recognise the battle theme playing in the background when they all get together and fight until the second viewing. And the lead in to that where denzel tries to fight a really big bad guy and then is moved out of the way and all you see are close up shots one after the other of that character gearing up. AAAAARGH (goes and watches it again).

Has anyone else seen the PS3 tech demo of Final Fantasy VII? It's basically just the beginning where you're seeing stars and then up close with Aeris, zooms out to Midgar and then down to Cloud+Avalanche jumping off the train. All at cut scene quality, but not pre-rendered (or so I've heard). I think you can get it from ign or gamespot. Rumours have spawned of a PS3 remake.... yes please!

The story wasn't great but I loved it anyway. Climhazzard, Omnislash, and Tifa's fight scene were just splendid. I was kind of hoping that Cloud's stripped down sword would suddenly hum into life and become the Ultima Weapon, but it wasn't to be. The only annoying bit was Aeris's voice - she's just as annoying as I imagined she'd be. Tifa's redesign was great though.

Tactics, 6, 7, 4, 9, 8. That's my best to worst of the ones that I've played. I used to think that the storylines for FF were incredible, but either they've started to get a lot worse, or I'm just getting a little more discerning, because from 8 onwards they just seem to be the most simplistic rubbish imagineable. Oh well...

My favorite FF games were 7 and Tactics for the ps1. The rest i've played...well..-_-.
10 was way too easy (plus tidus annoyed the hell out of me). Tactics for the GBA isn't too bad...but its too..child orientated (personal opinion). 8 was alright...didn't hate it, but didn't really like it that much either. The FF 1 and 2 remakes for the GBA weren't too bad. Never played 6 before...feel like i'm missing out. Looking forward to the release of ps3 and ffXII (thats the right number..right?). The sooner it comes out, the sooner people will go crazy over it, the sooner the price will gradualy decline so i can eventually afford a used one.
ps. it seems like tons of people have seen this movie already...a friend of mine in NY somehow got a copy of it on dvd. anyone know where i can get (translated versions) of the dvd? or is it too early and any that i would right now would be pirated copies?
