Here are some links of reviews of users bogu's. It should provide you with some information regarding their experiences.

i've been to the aoi budogu show room to buy some shinais. i saw their bogu and they were mighty beautiful! the paddings were quite thick and even thicker for the hand made ones. it's from japan so expect that you're going to pay more for the quality.

I bought a special shinai from Aoi. Because of a strike, it took some time, but when it arrived they included a tenugui. The shinai seems to be good quality, and the same type would have cost me more other places.

I just ordered a double-layered keikogi from Aoi. I ordered it last Monday the 12th, and it should be here by the 20th. Pretty quick delivery.
I also ordered my iaito from them, but I won't see that until October at the earliest.
They always answer my e-mails by the next day, too. Good service, IMO.

You are so lucky. I order the shinai Hinokuni in the beginning of July, and it never arrive. I talked to them several of times, and their promise did not come ture. I don't know how much longer I have to wait, but I am losing my patient, so it won't be too long. I feel tired to hear any more delay.(First is the end of july, then is beginning of Aug, sth like in two weeks, or next week, they just tried to fool me!! )
By the way, they are starting to ignore my e-mail. Whatever I ask/send, there was no response. If I want to have an answer of my e-mail, I must call. I am so disappointed.

two of my dojo mates have bought their bogu and one has bought an iaito from them. almost everyone in our dojo has bought either shinai or gi from them as well, and i can say is: i wish they had opened earlier. everyone likes their equipment and my sensei quite approves of their bogu, although i've never tried it. their shinais are quite good quality and so is their bogu...and their gi is at least 3 times softer than mine (from a different supplier). the iaito is quite nice and well balanced as well. i would recommend them. (also, they're local so i have to support them. providing good quality equipment helps them.)

After 3 months, I finally received the shinai. It is in good condition, and I used it in the day which I received it. I will say that the shinai is pretty impressive, and they are not selling this shinai anymore (probably they have difficulty to receive this shinai from Japan). Anyway, I am happy about it, and it eases the frustration that I have earlier.

Just received my first bogu set FD-4 from Aoi last wednesday. It has far better finish than originally i thought. This bogu set has full deer skin with hand hemmed trim. My sensei also surprised for the price and quality. Lead time was 1 month. I'm very happy for this one though the colour of mune stitch was different from my choice. Thank you Aya.

Cool!
If you've got a digital camera I'd also love to see some pics of it.. the photos on the budo-aoi aren't that.. eh.. descriptive :) I wish they at least had some normal shot of all the pieces like on all the other bogu sites.
Btw, did you get duralumin or titanium men? I guess duralumin, because of the nice -100$ :D
