Nonsense - its what everybody experiences. I'm 2 months into wearing the stuff and I still feel like a snail and even have trouble standing up as the do hits my throat and I fumble to pick up my shinai. I keep praying it will get better soon as I'm not getting any younger. And - I still can't hear the commands and people seem to be sneaking up on me from the sides. If all that isn't enough; my glasses keep fogging up so even if I knew what I was supposed to do I couldn't see the target anyway.

All that being said - I can't wait for the next class.

Whoa.

We were kidding, of course. Everyone suffers a little bit in the first time. Some more, some less.

No its not normal !!!...

The Norm is that you realise you couldn't remember anything for the last couple of weeks, because your memory has been knockd out fo your braimn by Men cuts !!

I wore my tare and dou after one month of training, after two more month i got my kote, so, that i could do kirikaeshi propably and one month more i wore my men.
The men was the only thing, which really made me suffer, because i was to stupid to tie it right, so that the strings became loose and in hurted my ears.

Well, that's different. I didn't get to train with parts of the bogu in a length of time. The first day wearing the bogu it was everything. Do, Men, Tare, Kote. The men was hell. I'm slowly getting used to it though. I still have to remove the men around 20 minutes before everyone does, so I could breathe and orient myself correctly. It disrupts the training, but I plan to keep the Men on the whole time next time (hopefully). I just wish it wasn't always so hot in the Men.

heh, try doing that here in the tropics...lets just say that there is no difference between kendo and jumping in your pool with your clothes on...

Ugh, don't remind me. I'm still going to visit the Manila Kendo Club when I'm in the Philippines, no matter how hot it gets. It'll be a challenge ;)

.

ah dude
atleast you can wear glassess underneathg
im extremely short sighted so i cant see a bloomin thing cuz my specks wont fit under the men

does anyone use contacts? how do they bear up?

i also have problems with my hair/tenegui falling infront of my eyes, atleast im in club armour which is so big i can squeeze my hand in and sort it sometimes

apart from that im not too bad at moving in bogu, maybe it depends on how well it fits and how soft it is...or summit...i dont know im just a girlie

:p

Contacts work great, been using them for years. The only problem some people have is if you get sweat in your eyes, it's more irritating than without them. I've never had them fall out and I've used both little ones (rgp/Boston lens) and big ones (toric soft).

Any optician will have sport frames that have a strap rather than solid ear pieces. A number of Kendo supply houses sell special frames (about $20) that fit perfectly under the men (I have them).

We'll be waiting for you Sinta. With all the heat especially this summertime, wearing your keikogi and armour alone is enough reason to reconsider kendo. Damn its so hot!!! Newbies in armour even collapse sometimes due to heat exhaustion aggravated by the keikogi. whooa... But if you will survive Summer, you can survive the rest of the year.

Cheers.:D
