I'm in the US, so shipping is kind of high. I need help finding a wooden naginata without a metal blade with a price including the shipping of less than $100.

I'm just starting, so what is the difference between kihon-yo and shiai-yo, and which one do you recommend?

The best answer to this question is ALWAYS, "Ask your teacher". That said, if you are going to be practicing Atarashi naginata, you will need a shia-yo naginata to start with. Double check if the one they are selling comes with Ha-bu, if not, you will need to purchase one (or better yet, two).

wait...teach yourself....as in,
A. teach a class...or teach yourself as in
B. literally "Teach myself"? If you meant
A. Good luck, I hope the classes you teach are a huge success
B. I wouldn't recommend training alone. All you develop are bad habits. There is a naginata federation in the U.S. Try looking thorough this to find someone you can study under.

Either way, good luck!

In that case, you might as well tape a kitchen knife to a broom handle, put on one of your mom's dresses and have at it. Having a few beers before hand will probably help to loosen you up. Good luck.
