As the title says. Again, to those who don't know, I'm still new to the bogu stuff and til now have had my trainer tie the men on me. I can't exactly see what he's doing so I didn't learn much from it :)
I looked through my kendo book, but it doesn't instruct one how to wear the men and then tie it. I also checked the internet, but haven't found anything to help me.
Could anyone give me a few tips? I know the chin goes in first and that it has to be slightly tight. But where do the cords go and what does the knot look like?
Help ... please?
:D

PS you'll need Adobe Acrobat reader and the Japanese font plug-in to read the manuals, which are PDF format.

Thanks for the link Neil. I found that one too, but I couldn't open the manual because I didn't have the japanese font plug-in. Do you know where I can find that?

Re: Tying Men himo. I'm struggling a bit with my brand new bogu. One problem is tying it hard enough so the back of the men bends inward to hug my head and the other problem is when I do Jodan, my shoulder is pushing men wing and it's trying to
come off my head.
I don't want to use Kansai(?) method because threading himo thru the top isn't really easy part while you're wearing it.
So I did use regular method however, instead of tying it, I brought it down to my tsuki and warpped around ( like Kansai ) and then tied it in the back.
My questions are...
1. Has anyone tried it?
2. Is there anything wrong with it?
( injury, regulation, tradition, sperstition.. etc... )
It holds very well and I like it.. Please let me know what you think..
Hold it for center - Can't go up - just hit kote all day long
