Everybody here on this thread is SoCal! If so, I'm gonna be the "troll" from the North.

Last time we played up here, one of our guys won the 5dan and up. I think Danny Yang won the 1-4dan. Even if I were healthy for this tourney, I would be whooped :D..

I'll be there, but only for court duty. :( Man, I wanna play bad..

Kendokamax,

Does it smell like “It’s nice to be able to talk about local things on a forum too...”

Your quote from the U of T tournament thread.

I did not see a single snide comment from anyone who is not familiar with U of T tourney, yet you rain on “our” party.

Hey French! Whats up? You're at Venice now or was it Costa Mesa? Anyways, I'd be competing if it wasn't for my completely ruptured Achilles. I'm out of taikais for the year most definitely. I'm trying for my 2dan shinsa in Nov but that is being a little optimistic. Not sure if 6 months of rehab and 3 extra months are enough. I can always test next year in May.

Misterkukuru. I guess you are the resident smack talker here. :D Remember that the North went into YOUR house last year in Torrance and took the team title in both mens and womens!

Looks like the North/South rivalry is heating up a couple weeks early. :bandit:

Any friendly bets on which side will come out on top?

Being from So. Cal, I'm going to say that when all the dust settles and the trophys counted we are going to edge out No. Cal. by a nose.

Yes, it's region pride... so how many of you are willing to show some pride on your side!:D

Let the bets roll...

Last north south they picked a sucker team! i dont know why SCKF always puts cheap guys on the north south team. Ughh just like in Canada...mostly cheap guys on the team, so of course North cali kicks our @ss! we dont even put our best guys out there, we never do..it just sucks for everybody!

Inouye02
9th April 2003, 02:50 PM

Kurukuru, we didn't have all of our best guys on the team either. Goya on the South team looked really good that day.

But, all in all good luck to all of yaz.. I won't be playing.. Damn.. I've got the itch.. :D

To the North,

Thank you for all your hard work on the North- South tournament. I thought it ran well and I had a good time.

To my friends, I appreciated all the cheering and backing I received during my shiai. That made it really fun.

Rei,

The tournament was fun and well run. Mr.kurukuru laid the smack down the first few rounds, but got toasted by the little people basher! damm three dwarfs in a row? who knew? congrats to tenken...even though he had the easy side!!!!!! and BOOOOOOO to the judges for the team tournament!!!! Yang had atleast three points, Okada had atleast two, and there was no wakare being called by the head judge in chinens match!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOO thats what happenes when you do the 6 dan and up team at the same time as the 5 dan and under! you leave the shiai in the hands of old men that cant judge!

Had a great time at the North South Tournament. And I did see the some Kurukuru smackdown... Ouch!

Glad I wasn't on his side of the bracket:D

How about that nito from Park sensei from Cypress.... impressive!

Hey Inouye, looks like your pick Tenken won! Too bad there's no trophy for it:( Maybe I'll buy you a beer! ;)

My thanks to the people up North for holding this tourney. Hope to see you all there next year.

To the NCKF, had lots of fun at the tournament, They did a awesome job of running it ..

Congrats to tenken...most memorable match was against Ching from Sac..

mrkurukuru was robbed in his match, but thats a story for the judges who cant judge thread, we did see some some kurukuru waza, awesome !!

mr honda , ur welcome , but thank you for the ride we had a good time watching you , also to m-french awesome job ..

as for me , i want to appologise to everyone for my performance , brought out the nito ryu for the 1st time , busted some good do hits , but no zanshin afterwards..really nervous , then lost by ippon from hansoku,

thanks to Arnold Matsuda Sensei from san jose , for his comments , i will practice harder!!

anyways looking forward to next year !!

INOUYE2

No apologies necessary. A couple things are clear. You were obviously very nervous and once the zanshin is worked out, your do will be something to contend with. C-R-A-A-A-A-A-A-C-K!!! Like thunder.

Breaking out the Nito for the first time, I would imagine it is to be expected.

And thank you for arranging the ride and doing the most of the driving.

M. French, I’m bummed we had to fight. We had a nice long match though. I would much prefer we are in different brackets and hopefully meet much later in the tournament.

"you leave the shiai in the hands of old men that cant judge!"

Hey, as an 'old guy' I take offense. Why must all the lousy judges be 'old'?

Inouye02
16th April 2003, 03:46 AM
old warrior dont take offense to the remark , its just that there were some " older " judges there that made some really bad calls or didnt make any calls ..

example , during the finals in the 3-4 dan semi finals match , opponent A steps out of bounds, the shimpan is no more then 3ft away , he didnt make the call , the other shimpan 15ft away does ? this shimpan was at least 70 yrs old ..i'm sure you and everyone else knows this can make a difference in winning and losing ...

Old Warrior
16th April 2003, 04:43 AM
My definition of old is: 10 years older than you happen to be at any moment in time. Given that definition - 70 is even old to me.

And, while it's true my vision is lousy, when my glasses fog up under the men, I can hardly see who's in front of me, let alone where kote ends and forearm begins. So I guess, I'm still an old guy. Anybody want to sell some youth?

M.K. Kawai

Hey Inouye,

At least you got to get that first nito bout under your belt and now you know what it feels like to use in a tournament.

Thanks for the ride to and fro to the North South Tourney:D

I was too busy trying to see everyone who came up with us that I didn't have much time to really look at the judges. Besides, by the time 4-5 o'clock came rolling around I was already zoning... must be that hangover from the party the night before:rolleyes: Hahahahaha.

Peace...

To all from North and South...... What a great time @ the Tourney.
Ya, william it was too bad we had to meet so early, sorry if i tired you out for the next round but you were tuff. My head is still ringing fronm that Men you cracked down on me...or is that the sound of Inouye and Kawai laughing in the background??? Hey Tim it was good seeing you and all my other Kendo amigos from up North, but what was with that flop ching took on tenken???As for you Inouye-san it takes cahones to try something new in a public forum and I heard those do's crack like thunder, it's only a matter of time until you'll be out there doin' the dip like Kurukuru.
to all up North you put together quite the all star team but we have youth on our side so see ya next year and thanx for the tourney.
